I was watching the show Dangerous Drive & a cop on the show was showing his glock 30 sf. He said it has a ceramic polymer frame. Is this true ? I thought the frames were polymer. Are they different or am I having a stoner flash back ?

That's what I was thinking. I hate to hear someone who should know about his firearm, a cop in this example, say something like this especially on tv.

As I'm sure others here will tell you, the fact that he is a cop has no bearing on his knowledge of firerarms. In 23 years as a cop, and most of it as the designated "gun nut", I found that a great many cops have no interest in guns, other than that they work when they need them. I was the exception to the rule, I just always figured that if I was going to carry one, and face others who might have one, I should know something about them. Plus, they're cool so I like them:cool:

    Ditto!

sargespd, I spent my last 6 years before retiring as the range master and chief firearms instructor for my department (400 armed personnel). My experience was exactly the same as yours. The majority of LEOs get confused about "service revolver" and "service pistol". I heard a motor cop testifying in superior court that when he stopped the suspect's vehicle and approached he drew his service revolver. He was wearing a department issued Glock at the time (and was when he made the warrant arrest).

Was he the only person qualified enough to handle the Glock?

Most police are quite familiar with firearms, at least ones typically used for law enforcement. Such was not the case 30 years ago. This guy was an exception, and a doofus to boot. Either that, or he was amusing himself by telling stories.

Quite sometime ago, GT member dwebb210 performed a non-destructive infrared spectral analysis of his G20 frame. It matched very closely, the infrared spectral signature of Nylon 6,6 , a highly respected engineering polyamide:

    So, no, no "ceramic" frame.

The Glock Blue Label guns are ceramic based. That's why they're reserved for LE sales only. Those who failed to remember history are doomed to repeat it.

That plus the SF designation (special forces) makes it true.
