I am thinking about trading in my Colt 1911 Government .38 Super for another Glock + ammo... Any thoughts on this decision? I already own a G30SF and looking at either a G19 or G23 to replace the hard to find .38 Super...

Better to sell that 38 Super to a 1911 aficionado and get what it is worth to buy a Glock and ammo.

I think if that is what you want to do then go for it. I have a few 1911s and they have their place in my collection but they are not for everyone.

I guess my concern is although there are a lot of Colt 1911's out there, you can't really get them new anymore. I bought this pistol brand new and it is a good shooter, just can't go the distance like the glock...

I've already had a smoking pipe failure with it. Granted it was only one and there are several reasons that could have happened, but I have NEVER had a problem with my glock and now have over 500 rounds through it. It just put a bad taste in my mouth when I saw that brass sticking out.

What do you mean by this? Colt still makes 'em. That 1911 will go for a very long time, just be ready for more problems(flame suit on). The first 6000 rounds of steel, aluminum and cheap ammo through my G-19 were trouble free. NEVER had a 1911 act like that, even when they cost 4 times the Glock.

I heard that Colt doesn't produce the 1911 for civilians anymore? Maybe just a rumor, gonna research it...

Keep the 1911 great range Pistol. Love my Glocks but a 1911 has a better trigger and for
me is a better target Pistol.
