Glock disassembly and reassembly-how many times is too much?

Discussion in 'General Glocking' started by -, Jun 20, 2002.

I'm carefully venturing into taking my Glock apart. I'm afraid of the plastic holes getting bigger than the pins holding the parts together. Does anyone have any idea how many times the frame can be disassembled and reassembled? If the holes are indeed getting bigger to hold the parts securely, is there a fix for it? Or do I need to get a whole new frame? Thanks

Some of mine have been taken apart 100 or so times. They are a bit looser but no problem. The guns used for the armorer school have been taken apart hundreds if not thousands of times and they are fine too.

I only detail strip my slide assembly as there are no (critical) polymer parts to wear out. I wouldn't (in my opinion) detail strip the grip frame unless absolutely necessary (to replace a bad part, do trigger mods, etc). All areas can be cleaned with gunscrubber and you don't risk the gun "loosening" on you. My 2 cents...
