AL comes in at March of 1986, pictures of the gun would be welcome if you would like to start a thread on it and welcome to the forum, nice gun to start the collection with (and I say "start" because it will grow, they are very addictive to collect)

    Your gun is quite valuable.

The AL prefix guns are so-called pencil barrels. The barrels have a slightly smaller diameter than barrels produced after the AM prefix. The hole in the front of the slide for the barrel is also of a smaller diameter than subsequent guns. In fact the barrel from a non pencil barrel Glock will not fit through it.

These guns are highly collectible. Depending on condition and completeness it is worth from about $2,000 on up.

We'd all love to see pictures of the gun and any accessories in the internals of the gun.

    Are you the original owner?

Congratulations on owning such a great Glock!

I just picked up this gem yesterday.
    All original unmolested internals.
Appears to have not been abused/shot to death.

I've just updated post #26 with some date codes from early guns with info kindly provided by other GT members.

I've not looked at this post in a while. I can add a lot to it re: the PBs when I have time to take a look at my guns.

Others with PBs please chime in and I'll add your info to post #26 to continue the record of very early guns.

Glock sure was busy with early guns in 1984!

    Nice!

It was made around June of 1997.

You even got the right mags; it was made during the Assault Weapons Ban, and the mags are correct for a Law Enforcement pistol made during the ban.

I'm not sure about the box, though. Did the box come with a sticker with the pistol's serial number and other info affixed to one end of the box?

The box had no sticker. Box looks like it was made for gen 3 pistols. I always thought gen 3 Had the newer style box.

Early gen 3 came in the style pictured, as did the "Gen 2.5" that had finger grooves.
