Hi,

If I were interested in purchasing a 'new Glock' and the seller/dealer said its been assembled from new parts and doesn't have matching serial numbers on the frame and slide but is under full waranty and is new in box, is there reason to be cautious on buying if the have good feedback? is there anything I should ask about? This is probably a noob question so forgive me...

My guess is that a mix and match gun will not be under full warranty from Glock. Maybe he's implying that his shop will warranty it which I would stay away from myself. You should call Glock to verify.

It may be a "Factory Refurbished" Glock. Basically Glock takes a used pistol, replaces anything that needs to be replaced and may refinish the slide, then sells that gun as "Factory Refurbished". It should have a gray tag wrapped around the trigger guard that says "Glock Factory Refurbished" as you'd see in this picture: http://gastatic.com/UserImages/87564/997405626/wm_1450382.jpg
Basically it's one step up from a used gun.

It may also be the case that it's in fact a used gun, never refurbished by Glock, and the dealer is just saying what he needs to in order to sell it. If it has aftermarket parts like an aftermarket barrel or magazine extensions, it's a used gun that was never refurbished by Glock.

I'd rather just buy a new Glock.

Thanks guys for the feedback. It was in OD green, thats the reason that I wanted it, but once I saw that it was 'assembled', I had to question it. I think I'll stick with a new gen 3 in black...to be safe

A NIB Glock that starts off with different serial numbers? If the dealer told you the gun is NIB, I'd run away as quickly as possibly from this disreputable dealer.

Another possibility is that this individual bought two guns, took the frame and slide that they wanted to make one gun, and put the other frame and slide together to sell that gun. Some people like a certain slide finish, a certain frame color/texture, but they can't find all of those features in one gun. So they buy two, mix and match to get the features they want into one gun, then assemble the remainder into another gun that they sell.

If that's the case I wouldn't mind buying it, but if you ever need to send the gun to Glock for some reason I don't know how they'd react with mismatched serial numbers on the frame, slide and barrel.

they don't care the frame is the only thing they care about :wavey:unless it was a .40 on a 2 pin frame :whistling:

I think you hit the nail on the head.. I believe thats what he meant by assembled from new parts...This was my original issue with buying the gun from the dealer as I didn't know what was covered by Glock warranty and would I get Glock perfection from an 'assembled' gun...thnx
