Noticed that too, I think the answer is that the people who approve ad pictures for Glock are WAY LESS anal retentive about stuff than the fans like us are :embarassed:

HK had an ad some years back, showing the rounds loaded backwards in the magazine.

Although there have been instances of "2.5 generation" guns, I wasn't aware there were any 17s. Even if there were, I'm fairly sure the one shown in that ad is a Photoshop job. Many of the small details are identical on the different examples shown.

2.5 equals finger grooves without the rail.

What are the external differences between the Gen1 and Gen2 G17? Is it texture or something really minor?

I'm just guessing if you add a rail to the 2.5, it looks the same as the 3rd gen pic and that if you remove the finger grooves, it looks just like the 1st gen pic, and that would kind of screw up their "evolution" theme.

If indeed there were some Gen 2.5 G17's made, they weren't sold in the US....I say this because this is the first time I've ever even seen so much as a picture of one.

I really wish they would have made interchangable front straps for the Gen4 as well as the back.
A nice flat backstrap with no finger grooves on the SF frame would have been really nice. I'd settle for two different variants of the same model as far as the finger grooves go.
