    G41 & G21 = Full Size , G30 & G36 = Sub Compact ... Why no Compact category in .45ACP for Glock ? ... Wouldn't a .45ACP model between a G21 and a G30 in size be popular ?

    If I'm not mistaken the G-30, G-30SF, G-30s & G-36
    are all Compacts.
They are all about the same size as the G-19.
The 30 & SF have the wider slide, & 30s will fit in a lot of the same holsters as the G-19.
As far as I know there is not a Sub-Compact in 45ACP
Unless you want to call the 36 a sub because of the single stack.
Of course my memory is not what it used to be, and my eyes are old too, Hell my whole Body is old.
But when I check out it says Organ Donor on my License.
They may look me over and say everything here is used up.
But I have had a good life and earned all those Scars.

We wondered the same thing when we changed out to Glocks. We did end up getting a G38 (for the wife to replace her Para lightweight commander), but unfortunately, had to sell. I've peddled off all but 200 rds of GAP ammo at the range. We anticipate getting another G38, in the future, unless Glock builds a G38 sized pistol in 45 acp.

Uh, if anyone thinks the G30 is a subcompact, more power to you.

Assuming you're talking about the G19/23/32/38 sized pistols?

I think it's more of how Glock classifies them. The G19 and G30/30SF are so close in all dimensions that I would consider the 30/SF as compacts. To me a subcompact would be in the G26 size.

I thinks he's more talking about the short, 3 finger groove Glocks.

From the GLOCK web site: G30 & G29 are classified as subcompact along wth G26, G27 & G33. G36 is classified as subcompact slimline along with G42 & G43.

Gotcha harold. Two finger grooves = subcompact. Add an extended base plate to the 30's mag and it becomes a compact for all practical sense. It would be nice to have a G19 length grip on a Glock 45ACP. with 12 + 1 capacity.

I'd bet a hundred bucks that if Glock classified the G30 and 36 as "compacts" there would be someone *****ing about "why no 45 sub compacts"....

What differance does it make? It is easy enough to compare dimensions against other pistols. And there are plenty of options for whatever size you require

The only authority for official categories is Glock. If Glock were to call the G40 their 10mm Compact model, then so must I regardless of how questionable I personally consider that classification. :) But...Mr. Glock has no .45ACP/10mm models that he calls "Compact".

NON-.45ACP/10mm models have Subcompact models that are very significantly smaller than the Standard models. A Compact model fits well between them. That is not true for the .45ACP/10mm line where the Standard and Subcompact pistols are BOTH fairly large and heavy. There's not a lot of point to squeezing yet another large and heavy "Compact" model into the narrow gap berween their two existing large and heavy pistols.

The grip length of the G30 is a lazy artifact of its frame's commonality with the G29, combined with the ten round mag limit from 1994 to 2004. Glock should get with the times and extend the G30 grip down to the bottom of their 10rd mag with a regular baseplate.

Glock doesn't... but if they did... It'd be the M&P Shield 45 :couch:

G30 is so close in size to the G19.

I have a G30 Gen 4 and I consider it to be a compact. On the Glock US website and in the Glock instruction book that comes with a new Glock the G30 is listed as a sub-compact.

Yea, but it doesn't have 3 complete finger grooves.
