It was G43's turn to go to the range today, and what fun. I got a bunch of magazines for it, some having the Taran Tactical +2 and +3 pads. Tremendous accuracy, light weight and easy to shoot. By the way, I highly recommend the Taran Tacticle Pads for the 43. Never a failure…just fun!

I took my 43 to the range three times last week and enjoyed the heck out of shooting it. I have to be vigilant on where I place my finger so it doesn't get chewed up on the trigger.

I like the ETS 7 and 9 round mags for the range.

Our G43 is not great fun to shoot, owing to the serrated trigger which irritates our finger after only a few rounds. Extended sessions become tedious. For us, the serrated trigger must go.

Overall we like the G43 very much for its intended mission.

    We trudge on.

I really like shooting mine too, more so than my Glock 19. No issue with the trigger in my case and its backstrap does not rub the top of the joint of my thumb the way the 19 does.

I have a lot of Speer Lawman 147 grain ammo and both the Taran Tactical and Pierce + 1 basepads don't always get that last round into the chamber with the stock magazine spring. That's true with a friend's gun too. Lighter bullets work though.

I shoot that little gun way better than I should be able to.

Not really a range toy or target pistol of any kind. This is a carry gun pure and simple. I like to shoot different kinds of defensive ammo, and keep familiar with it. That's about it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

A nice thread to read. Count my 43 among those that work perfectly.

Having fun with a completely reliable and dependable firearm is a simple pleasure, but one we sometimes go through endless means to find.

Can't say I'm having problems with the serrated trigger on my G43. I don't usually use it as a range gun, but practice for self defense every once in a while. Extremely accurate little gun.

My G43 has been flawless. Nice pistol. Well done, Glock, and 'bout time.

I'll keep saying it. The 43 could benefit from an OEM 8-round mag option. At least mine could. But yeah, for me its just about the ultimate EDC gun.

So far my Vickers +2 have been flawless. Roughly 500-600 rounds through them now, so I've been carrying one for my backup mag as of late. You might want to try them out. I use a Pearce +1, also flawless for about 800 rounds, for my mag in the gun.

The 43 would be perfect if it was a double stack with a bigger grip. Wait, that's the 26. Nevermind

I completely agree about the stock trigger. I couldn't go more than 50 rounds without discomfort. I put an Apex trigger shoe in mine (no mods, just the physical trigger part), and now it's an absolute joy to shoot.

Then it's fatter and heavier, so at that point might as well extend the slide and grip a little to give it better balance... of wait, that's a 19, never mind.

After watching the horror in DC last week, would you feel comfortable carrying a G43 ? I feel you need more ammo available. If I am carrying a G43 and an extra clip, why not just carry a G26 instead?

I haven't had any comfort issues shooting my G43. I load my own practice ammo and load them to the same spec as my carry load (124gr +P HST), usually only shoot a couple hundred max in a given session though, but no issues with sore fingers, etc.

It did take me a while to get reasonably competent with the G43, probably owing to the size of the gun. After a few thousand rounds, I would say while still slightly short of my double stack Glocks or my G42, it it definitely acceptable for carry use.

I have tried many of the magazine extensions (MagGuts, Taran +1, +2, etc.) and the only one I tried that will feed my chosen HST carry round without fail is the Pearce +1. I prefer a flat base magazine inside my belt, so the Pearce +1 is on the spare only. Not the smallest 9mm carry option, but certainly the best for me now.

I have been playing with my G-43, putting 147 gr ammo in it has made it more fun to shoot.

I agree with you in principal, but frankly, we (and they) were extremely lucky that handguns were able to successfully be used in a rifle fight. That isn't common and in general, no handgun is a match for that. However, it's the world we live in which brings me back to my principal agreement.

Took my new G43 to the range also a couple of days ago. Ran 100 rounds of WWB fmj through it without a hitch. No BTF or malfunctions of any short. Did not experience the trigger finger irritation that some get although I do wish it had a non-serrated trigger. Replaced OEM sights with Ameriglo Hackthorn sights. Very pleased with it, will be my EDC after I put a few hundred more rounds through it.

    Regards

Uh, because it's much more comfortable to carry a thin "single" stack, and a spare mag or two on the off side, than a chunky double stack.

    If you're carrying a G26, why not just carry a G19 instead? :p

I would, to a certain extent have to agree with you. But no handgun is a match for an AK, and given my social status (a mere citizen) and the area where I live, I think my trusted 43 will do just fine.
