Interested in hearing peoples thougts about it, who own one. Just a plinking gun for me. Have a chance to pick it up fairly cheap $425ish. Almost sounds like a no brainer, and almost had my heart set on a Glock 20 Gen4.

At that price I would buy it. I don’t have any experience with the 41mos but do have a 17 mos with a rmr and enjoy it. Takes a little getting familiar with the rmr, but I picked it up with regular training.

Let us know and enjoy.

Can I make a suggestion? Since you are also contemplating a Gen 4 20?

Go with a Gen 4 21. The 21 would make for a better platform to convert to 10mm than would the 41. You could probably convert a 41 to 10mm, but I would be wary of doing that on account of the 41's lighter slide.

If you are going to convert a 21 to 10mm, apart from needing a new barrel, you should also go with a heavier RSA. The 21 slide is a little lighter than a 20's. I would go with a 20# RSA to start with and see how it functions. You'll also need G20 mags.

You may also need a G20 extractor. Some people who have done this conversion report having absolutely no issues with the 21 extractor, others have found it necessary to either modify the 21 extractor or change it over to a 20 extractor when shooting 10mm. Before doing anything, I would leave the extractor alone to see how it functioned.

Good luck, and have fun with whatever you choose!

My cousin bought one and gave it to me to try for a couple of weeks. Very nice pistol ... and that is before he has mounted an RMR.

$425(ish) would be money WELL spent.

That's a great price, buy it! If you don't, tell me where it is so I can buy it!

The G41 has a much slimmer slide profile than the G20/21/40, which amounts to less perceived bulk. My non MOS Gen4 G41 shoots like a dream, and is quite accurate, moreso than I.

Since you mentioned having your heart set on a Gen4 G20, and not wanting to convert the G41 to 10mm, I'd let any thoughts you may encounter in regards to caliber conversion go by the wayside. The G21 may have an easier time of conversion to 10mm, but the added bulkiness and weight of it plus the extra cost of parts and time fuddy duddying around with those parts and you're darn near the cost of a used G20 that was designed to fire 10mm from the getgo. The aforementioned is code for: save your coins and buy a dedicated 10mm Glock, instead of entertaining the thought of a multi caliber G41.

I'm far from a Glock fanboi, but I like the Practical/Tacticals. I think you'll be quite happy with the G41MOS, even if you never plunk an optic down on it. Here's my Gen4 G41...I purchased it late this past year at a local gunshow, I think for $505. And it's still as plain Jane as the day it was born, not requiring a darn thing in my opinion, except perhaps an OEM extended slide lock lever like the one on it's Gen3 G35 brother directly behind it :D

I use my G41 daily as my duty gun. I literally bet my life on it.

Is that tall front sight co-witnessed? Ever shoot it set up like that, with the dot somehow turned off, but using that front sight? How well does that work.

I don't have experience with reflex sights, but have hunted with red dots. One problem with a red dot is the image of the animal is not always very clear. Dim light, image less clear than if with irons. And glare on lens also affects image. However the aiming dot is clear and easier than irons.

So, in various defensive scenarios of difficult light situations, any issues picking up the target through the reflex?

If staying with .45ACP, do you think there may be a difference in the hottest loads they can handle, 41 vs 21?
As far as 45 loads go, even including +p's, I doubt you would see an appreciable difference in wear between the 21 and 41. I've owned both. When shot back to back I think the 41 is just a tad snappier. If you plan to feed it a steady diet of +p's, the 21 would make for somewhat more comfortable shooting. I seriously doubt you would wear the 41 out, though.

Honestly, you can't go wrong either way. Hope that helps.

Good to know.

I'm just in the planning stages of the next gun, and a Glock .45ACP is high on the list. One duty would be hunting loads :)

I would also add that if you're thinking about possibly converting to 45 Super, definitely go with the 21. Let us know what you get!

Why and what way does the 41 have a slimmer profile than the 21?

Is the 21 stronger in some way than the 41, and if so, are there differences in the top end Buffalo Bore type .45ACP ammo that they can handle?
The 41 slide is thinner like the Glock 30S. It is thinner and lighter to make it easier to carry and handle. Probably soaks up less recoil though but shouldn't affect durability.

The 21 has the same slide thickness as the 20 which is pretty beefy.
