I recently helped out a Union Pacific RR PD range officer with a gun malfunction. The gun belonged to one of his officers and had an apparent AD at home. In the range, we found the firing pin was sticking out of the breech face and essentially slam fired when the slide was closed. The gun was clean, the firing pin pulled and thoroughly cleaned w/o effect. In fact the gun would double and triple fire on occassion. NO, neither of us had our finger on the trigger for this to occur! We sent the gun back to Glock for further examination and repair.

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

I have seen it happen a number of times, it is most often a result of not enough engagement bewteen the firing pin and trigger bar.
