The story on Glock .380 models is that they could never be imported because they didn't have sufficient BATF points to qualify for import.

That covers that...but now that Glock has a facotry here, GA I beleive...what's the holdup? If someone makes something here, what's the problem?

Anyone know the deal on this?

NO clue unless the parts are still made outside USA.
LEs can get them, or one of them.

The G28, chambered in .380 is the exact same size as a G26, except that the ammo is less potent and the ammo costs more than 9mm. Why in the world would you want one? Recoil is about the same because the G28 is of blowback design and the G26 is of locked breech design.

There is very little demand for Glock 380's and Glock is about 200,000 units behind in production of G17's, G19's, G22's and G23's. Furthermore, Glock does not manufacture any pistols in Georgia. They do make some G17, G22, G31, G34, G35, G37 frames in Smyrna, GA but the slides and barrels and internals are made in Austria.

you could just port your 26 to make it feel like its a .380 then get .380 lasered on the slide

Only full size frames are made here, at least that's what has been written many places, and shipped to Austria for assembly. Also, what would be the point in having an anemic round when you can have a far more potent round in the same size gun?

From visiting the plant here and talking to the General Manager and the Facilities Manager, they ONLY assemble here. They are installing the equipment to go to full production, but are still have a long way to go to be up and running.

That includes frames. They have the frame machine here, but it is not up and running yet. Glock Smyrna is strictly assembly.

Didn't say I did. Just wondering why considering GA.

The factory info is illuminating tho. I thought they made them in GA, the consensus here is that they're just assmebled there, for the time being. Sounds like it might be a future item.

I think the only reason .380 has become somewhat popular here in the states is because most pocket pistols are chambered in it and it is a very good alternative to carrying .25 or .32 for deep concealment. Since the G28 is the same size as the G26, there is really no upside to having one here in the U.S. I believe other countries have laws that prevent the general population from owning calibers = or > military or police calibers which is why the G28 was created.

Dead on. Thats why its pretty popular in Europe and South America. A lot those nations use the 9mm and bar its use, or anything bigger, by the civilian population.

If they could sell them to the general public in the US it wouldn't be worth their trouble because there would be no demand for them IMO. That is based off the fact they are the same size as their 9mm and 40S&W counterparts and not as effective. The only reason 380 is popular in any gun IMO is the compact size permitted (e.g. LCP, P3AT, etc.)

I would like one.

But then again, I would like to get one of each and one of each version.

Pardon my typo. It should state over 20 years.

As far as concealment and price, the Bersa is thinner, less expensive and very reliable. Why spend $550.00+ dollars for a .380 when you can get a 9mm, same size, same price.

Have you ever heard the saying, "there's an a** for every seat"? Make a pocket size 15rd Glock .380 and there's enough Glock-o-maniacs that they would buy them. And if the price was right ($350 or less), I'd buy one myself...but it wouldn't be...so I'll keep my Bersa Thunder 15rd pocket warmer, until they come take all of my toys and tell me that it's against the law to have them...and I still might hide it, and a few others.
