I finally decided to take the plunge and pick up the Glock 38. I called a local gun shop and was surprised to learn they had all GAP models in stock. A nicer surprise is they have all the ammo I can afford to go with it!!! Not being able to find ammo was the main reason that I didn't buy one sooner. Oh well, I should have called sooner because, as it turns out, they always keep the GAP ammo well stocked because of the State Police adopting the GAP. I'll post picks along with a range report after I pick it up tomorrow!

    Good job!

But don't you know you ran out and bought an "answer to a question nobody asked?"

Oh, and the ammo is too hard to find and expensive?

Yeah, I believed all that to, right up until I bought my own G38.

Seems like more people are discovering the GAP.

    Congratulations!

as mentioned above, the only reason why I dont have a GAP GLock is because of the ammo availability. It is almost impossible to find GAP ammo up here in Seattle. Does anyone know of any shops that carry them regularly up in Seattle?

Ask your local dealership. Tell him you dont want to take your business else where.
Cabela's usually carry GAP too. Give them a call.

Congratulations on taking the plunge. My g38 is easily the best Glock I've got. Report back after you've sent a few rounds downrange.

It was the same as the other Glocks in my area, $499. I thought there would be some kind of discount as well. But as it turns out they are pretty popular around here, so no discounts are needed to move them.

The GAP calls to me everyday!

I just don't want another caliber to take care of.

I would be tempted to get a Glock 37 based on a smaller grip frame than the 21. I assume the 37 is still smaller than a 21SF. I would also like to try one as I trust the .45 more than the 9MM for self defense and haven't been able to get over the Glock .40s' not blowing up on me despite the many LE Agencies who issue them. Good price on 37s' right now too.

I've been considering the G38 for a while now. The G21 and G30 or 30SF just don't feel right to me...fat, that is, but to have a 45 cal that feels like my G19 seems most inviting. Brass is my primary reason for not as yet buying one. Everywhere is out of brass-get in line more or less. Starline won't make any until they get a sufficient amount of orders and most other places have it back ordered. Forget about finding Winchester brass and many places don't even offer it.
