I saw a blurb on the .45GAP page that "To round out the Glock .45 GAP family, the new compact Glock 38 and sub-compact Glock 39" will be introduced at the "Jan 2005 Shot Show". Here's the link: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/petej/

Has anyone heard anything else about this??????

Yeah, read a post somewhere here today that someone had personally spoke with someone at Glock who confirmed this over the phone.

I don't think someone would make this up... so I am betting it's for real.

    G17, G19 and G26 (9x19)
    G37, G38 and G39 (.45GAP) ...I think that's right, right?

I am only allowed barrels over 105mm :( so it doesn't apply to me... at least I have my G37 :D

    I expect the G38 to be 8+1 capacity. Picture a G19 frame with a G30 slide.;)

Glock can ship a g38 directly to my FFL. I'll pay. No marketing required. It's already sold as far as I'm concerned. Just let me know the gun is being shipped so I can pick it up.

    Thank you Glock.

    Personally, I'm torn . . . G38 compact or G39 subcompact? Maybe I'll have to buy both.

Just remember, the subcompact 39 will be the size of a 26 with the slide thickness of a 37. Talk about a brick.

I'm willing to bet that if the 39 is a subcompact that it will NOT have a slide as thick as the 37. I'm betting that it's closer to the width of the other subcompacts, and uses nested recoil springs like the 36.

Maybe a 45GAP based P/T Glock 40 in the future, especially since the .45 cuts a big hole in competition targets? ;c

Forgive my ignorance, but if they show a Glock 38 at the upcoming show how long does it take for the gun to actually be available? I would definitely pick up a G38. Do the guns come out at the time of the show or is it a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming year? Thanks!

Distributors often place their orders at the show. Then it's normally about 60 days, but sometimes longer. The G37 took 8 months to reach dealers. The G36 took about 18 months.

I have moditifed my original quote above with a bit more detail:

Unofficial Early Jan. 2005 Shot Show Announcement: I've heard from three different reliable sources that Glock plans on announcing two new .45 GAP pistols: the compact Glock 38 (eight rounds) and the subcompact Glock 39 (six rounds). The new .45GAP pistols will be equivalent to the M23 and M27 but with a slightly heavier & wider slide. The medium size Glock 37 (10 rounds) has been on the market for a little over a year now -- sales began in Sep. 2003.

Gains two rounds on the 36,
gives up two rounds on the 30,
    better grip than either one,
    comes with a lightrail.

I find it hard to believe that someone at Glock confirmed anything over the phone. I called about 2 weeks ago asking something about my 19 and before I got off the phone I asked the gal about what Glock had coming for SHOT and if there would be a new GAP pistol. I could hear her pick up a piece of paper and she began to read a statement that is prepared for them for whenever they get asked. It had something in their about they will neither confirm nor deny and future models and will not discuss until the model is officially released, then you are welsome to call and ask about it.
I would like to see a 45GAP version of the 30. I am betting it would be just a hair smaller in the grip than the 30 and it would be just about perfect for my hand. If they come out with that I'm in trouble.

You can't get pre announcements by calling Glock directly, that's just the way it is with most any company. You need a back door. ;)

Yup. My "backdoor" just confirmed that the 38 and 39 are indeed a go, 100%. Further, they confirmed that the dimensions of the 38 are absolutely identical to the 19/23 and the dimensions of the 39 are exactly the same as the 26/27. Previous speculation / rumor about the capacities was also correct, 8+1 and 6+1 respectively. I have GOT to get me one of each!
