I went to a gun store to look at a G37 and found out something disturbing. When the empty magazine was in the gun the slide caught on something to not allow it to return into battery. The sales man said that all GAP's do that to assist in feeding the rounds into the gun when it is loaded. It looked like a magazine problem but the sales man said that it was normal. Does anyone have any insight on this???

I first posted the comment below, thinking you had never seen a gun before and were talking about the slide locking open on an empty magazine. Then I looked at your name and profile and realized I must be mistaken, so can you be more specific about this "catching on something" business?
That's how Glocks and just about every other semi-auto pistol made in the last or so century works. The slide is supposed to lock open when the magazine is empty. That way you know it is empty and you can reload and drop the slide. Normally we complain if our slide fails to lock back on the empty magazine, which means that either our slide lock or our magazine is defective.

Depending on the follower # that can happen. The rear edge of the follower catches the lower edge of the bolt face on an empty mag, later production G37 mags have a slighty different follower.

No the "something" that I was referring to is the follower. It seems to sit up a little to high and catches on the slide. When I took the last armorer class the G37 was not available yet and I have not spent a lot of time with them.

If this is normal, it is stupid. I would not buy a gun that got caught up on a mag. There has to be some explaination for it. Who knows?? I might be a glock armorer but I just don't understand why they would have put this into production with this problem.

If you think about it, the slide only hangs up on a EMPTY mag! Glock has changed the followers and if it a really BIG issue to you, call the service department and have them send you the updated followers.

I'll second that. Not a very useful feature.
