just needed some feedback on the 34 or 35 for competition. is is better to download the 35 to minor or use 9mm. I've heard the slide seems a little slow on the 34. any suggestions?

For Production and IDPA the power floor is 125 so no reason to shoot a 40 when you can shoot a 9x19.

With a stock spring the 34 an 35 cycle slow but that can be easily fixed with a spring change.

I use the 35 because this gives me the option to shoot limited 10 and limited if I want, which you cannot do with the 9 mm unless you shoot minor. You can load the .40 down so that recoil is very soft and still meet the 125 factor.

You can also get the G35, get an after market 9mm barrel, a few 10 round 9mm mags, and do Production, L10, and Limited with 1 gun.

    Sarge,

While that may work mechanically a 35 with 9x919 barrel would not be legal for anything but Open class.

Hmm, CGR. I guess I didn't realize that. I guess it is not in the "Factory Made Condidion" huh? Brain fart.

Maybe on the local club, it might get by, but at the big level it sure wouldn't.

    Thanks for the reminder.

I doubt anyone would care at a club match, if they do its real petty.

However at a large match, state/sectional or higher I would not use it.

I actually favor the G35 over the G34. .40 vs 9mm loaded at about 130 pf is about the same recoil, but my brain is telling me that the .40 has less of a pop. I know that's not the case and the 9mm still has less recoil, but the .40 sure is a soft shooter at that pf, and doesn't seem to crack quite as loud, kinda like a .45.

And don't bring up the subject of springs, we'll have someone hijack the thread and start telling us about .40 Super spring requirements. ;)

Well, You just did bring springs.... Therefore its open season.... I think it would be cool to run a 13 lb spring for 50 AE...... :)
