I presently have a Glock 17. This weekend I went and shot a few rounds being it was a slow weekend. I had been kind of looking around, and reading here on this site about different models of Glocks.

I was considering the 10mm, but the ammo seems like it is very limited, and expensive. There have been a few threads on here about the Glock 30, the 45acp. So while I was at the range, I was talking to the owner about the G30, and he said he had a range gun that I could rent and try out, so that is what I did, bad mistake!

I ended up putting 100 rounds through it, and LOVED IT! If this gun has any more recoil than my G17, it is not by very much. My shot pattern with the G30 was better than I was getting with my G17 for some reason. The G30 just felt, right, and felt perfect in my hands. Well long story short, when I left the range, I walked out carrying my new Glock 30. Both the Glock 17 and 30 will have the Crimson Trace Laser grips added. My wife has already claimed the G17.

I plan on taking my CCW test with it, and this will be my carry weapon. What a very nice gun this is.

Congratulations! The .45 ACP is a proven cartridge in both competition and self defense. I don't have the 30 (yet) but have the 21 and 36. Great accuracy and reliability! Have fun!:wavey:

Bought a used G30 last month, it's the only Glock I have ever owned/shot and the wife (who never shot any gun before) both fell in love with it.
Just wish we could afford a lot more ammo,:thumbsup::thumbsup: SO much fun!

Now if the dang CPL would get here.:impatient:

Congrats and welcome to GT. The Glock 30 is a great platform and can be adapted to nearly every role you may require of a handgun. You will enjoy having both cals at the range and for your carry options.

Congrats, Man!! I have a G30 on the way now, and I can't wait. I kinda had the same experience at the range. Seems like there's somehow less room for error with the G30...maybe not, but it's certainly more accurate than my G17. The only thing I'm missing on the G30 is the RTF2 texture that I've enjoyed on the G17, but I'm making up for that with a slip on grip. Anyway, congrats again!

    Recoil calculator
    A 230gr at 825fps has about ~13.5ft/lb recoil.
    A 147gr at 950fps and a 124gr at 1100fps has about ~8ft/lb recoil.

My Glock 30 (and G26/27) is more "accurate" (i.e. tighter groups) than my G19 or G17 or G23. The G30 is a great .45acp. Congrats.

Sounds like you have Glock Syndrom, next thing that will happen is you will be craving a G21 or G36. Enjoy that mdl. 30:cool::cool:

If the 30 would have been my 1st glock, I would have been hard pressed to look any further. Great Choice. I have yet to be dissapointed in my 30 or 30SF.

Congrats. I carry one almost every day (still a sucker for 1911's).

The Glock poly rifling posts the same numbers over my chrono as my 4.4" barrel Sig 220!

Heck of a lot of firepower in a small package.

I shot my G30SF for the first time this weekend and I loved it too. I had my G26 with me as well. Like you said the felt recoil was barely more then the 9mm. After I put a few hundred more rounds throufg it I will be carring it instead of my G26.

I asked my wife if I could divorce her, and marry my Glock 30. Needless to say, that did not go over very well, and don't recommend saying such a thing.

I am taking the guns to the range again this coming weekend, I will try and get some pictures of us shooting, if she is cooled down by then anyway!

Congrats. I own a G30SF my first and only glock. I've ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck and the shorter 9 round Mag for CCH.
