Does anyone have a pic of either a 26 or a 27 with a Hogue or Pachmayr slip on grip?
No one has a 26 or 27 wiht a Hogue slip on?
I'm thinking about grabbing one because I really like my 27 but the grip feels just a "little" to thin. It say's you have to trim them slightly though.
I have a pair on my G27, and love them to death!!!
Dang it, well here is the pic anyway...
its a hogue. trim work was fairly easy but gets a little tricky toward the front strap. the area that you end up cutting off on the front strap is just under where the 2nd finger groove is and is alot thicker there, so making a nice/neat/tidy looking cut takes a little more time.
the hogue will make your grip feel more like a custom-fit due to the swells on the sides of the hogue. i dont think the pachmayrs have them and i hear their rubber does not feel as soft or absorbing as the hogues.
I first installed a Hogue grip on my G26 but hated it. Once stretched enough to JUST go over the pistol's frame it actually STAYED like that. I could then pull it on/off with NO effort.
Now I've got a Pachmayr on it and like that one much better. Fits as it should. The BEST slip-on I've found though has been the "Quik-grip" from Glockmeister, I believe. It's an extremely tough and substantial piece of rubber, but I don't know if they make one for the subs as I've got it on my G19 duty pistol.
personally, i dont think the fine line of glock subs were NOT made for the hogue grips... if you have trouble hanging onto the sub model then step down and get the compact. ;Q
i am not sure about everyone else, but I, for one, do not buy hogue wraps because i cannot hang on to the gun. i buy them for the added palm-swells that makes it feel custom to my grip. it has nothing to do with the length of the grip, it has more to do with the width of the grip.
PS - i was confused by your initial statement because you stated "i don't (do not) think the fine line of clock subs were not made for the hogue grips"
doesnt that mean that you actually think they were??
Here's my pachmyr:
This is my Glock 26 with an Uncle Mikes grip. This grip doen't have finger grooves or palm swell and fits without cutting. I like it the best of all of them and it looks the best too IMHO.
This is the first time I have tried uploading pictures from my new camera so hope it works OK
thats a pretty decent looking grip, karter. i havent seen that one before, the fact that no trimming is required is plus. i wish hogue would develop one specific for the subs too.
This is the homepage of the Michael's website:
The small ones don't have finger grooves which, I think, makes for a better fit and a lot less added bulk. I also used a dremel and sandpaper to cut away a little off the bottom rear of the trigger guard to make more room for my middle finger. Also rounded the front of the trgger guard slightly, just for looks.
that looks really good.
I tried a bicycle inner tube on my G17 years ago but didn't keep it. I've not used a slip on, on any Glock since then. Now my HKUSP.40CLEM is a different story. I use a Pachmayer slip on.
I wouldn't think of putting anything on my G26 especially something not made for the gun. I do know of some guys that like the Hogue for the aforementioned palm swells.
hey thanks heavy J. here is another pic of the hogue from an angle to sort of see the palm-swells on the sides.
also i have switched out my mag with the pearce +0 and now use my mag with the scherer +0 that i customized with a dremel.
the scherer orignally had the "grenade" texture on the front but i sanded it off and the buffed it out to have a smooth front like the pearce had. i was surprised how well it turned out and it is now more smooth than the pearce was... and has the extra room for me to space my fingers comfortably.
I like those grips a lot but I can't seem to find them on Uncle Mikes product line after using your link. I just ordered the Butler Creek small ones thinking those were the ones you show. Where are the Michaels site are the grips? A search says nothing available?
Jagman 239 Once you get on the site - http://www.unclemikes.com/ - click the shooting accessories, then grips, then slip-on grips.
Good...thanks. Thats what I ordered, except it just says grips by Craig Spiegal/Butler Creek vs Uncle Mikes. so I hope I still got the ones you have.
Yes Jagman those are the ones I have.
