Planing to by a Glock 26 for fun shooting and was wondering if it would be posible to fit a G17 barrel and have it threaded
    to mount a comp?
The gun will not be used for anything but target shoting.
A class called "Snubby" with out comp
and some Pin shooting with comp
Due to gun laws in sweden i can not just by another gun instead.

yes you could buy a barrel for a 17 or 34 and have it shortened and threaded for a comp.

Im pretty sure you cant do it, i think you could with a 19 Barrel but not with a full size (17,34) barrel, i think perhaps someone makes aftermarket barrels to do that but standard ones have different sizes where the barrel locks in place. I tryed it once with a 22 barrel in a 23 and it wasnt easy to take off either. Pretty sure a 19 barrel will fit ok or like i said look at aftermarket ones i think IGB in Austria do them.

Whats the problem with owning another? are you just beginning shooting? we have laws like that here too you can only start multiple guns once youve completed a 'probationary' period  luckily for me ive been shooting for a long time

    hmm.. Interesting AusShane.
Think that i have to make some measurements first.

I have been shooting for many moons and have many guns.
To many acording to the authority:sad:
I have mostly Revolvers, Blackpowder and Cowboy guns.
The thought was to use only one auto, and get many "non licens"
parts for that. Yea the barrel is licensed but only as "accsesory".

Longer barrels: A G19 barrel will fit into a G26; a G23 barrel into a G27 and G33; a G32 barrel into a G27 or G33. The locking lugs on the full-size guns (G17, G22, G24, G31, G34, G35) are of a different pattern and will not fit into a compact or subcompact pistol. Trying to make them fit will only result in much cursing while trying to get them apart again. If you run a search, you can read all about numerous sad results from trying this.

False. The lugs are different and it wont fir your 26. You can get a longer barrel made or use a 19 barrel but a 17/34 will not fit.

Thank you for the informative respons.
So much for doing it the cheap way.
IGB has the barrel i was thinkin' of making
but the cost is like an entire gun.
Think i'll start with bying a G26 and take it from there.

    ahh i see
you might be better off with say a 17 or 34? that way you could get an alternative slide
    just a thought

Nope.. no G17 or G34, dont like the grip on that large Glock's.
Maybe a G19 slightly smaller grip altough i have never handled one.
But the shoting class reqire shorter barrel and i don't think it's
possible to use a shorter slide on the G19.
How ever the G26 can use a longer barrel, and with the G19 mag and the A&G grip adapter the grip should be just fine for me.
Beside i have already got my self an A&G adapter:thumbsup:
so the only thing missing is the G26:upeyes:
First i was after a Walther PPK .32acp but after shoting a G33
i was kind'a hooked. 9mm ammo is on the other hand easyer and cheeper
to come by here in sweden. (The military use the G17 "Mod 88") and surplus ammo can be found allmost everywere and from free to cheep.

Ah ok sounds good i just bought a 31 not long ago 357 is fun to shoot, but you really gotta reload cuz ammo for it aint cheap. I used to use 9mm Military stuff here it was hot stuff tho and had hard primers.
Is that true over there about non toxic ammo? i did hear a rumor (on here) that it was mandatory there.

Well.... Lead is very "dangerus" and is going to be outlawed in europe
This is only a political move to pretend that they care about the enviroment.

seriusly......is allready outlawed for huntin near water.
But on ranges with back rests that can be sieved to recover the lead
it will most likely be allowed.
So shoting on steel targets is soon over.

    i see
well its more worrying for primers, the projectile thing isnt such a big concern id really hope that non toxic primers are still allowed

    Lets hope so.
But the projectile for blackpowder guns neds to be of pure soft lead.
so lets hope that they come to there senses :soap:

Yeah thats true, for things like this they really need to look at incentives and management, which i think will happen eventually, even if theres money in lead removal/testing etc i think theyll go for it, it may become less common (lead) and more specific to certain shooters.

Very, very wrong. Only the G19 barrel will fit the G26, not the G34 or G17. Different lug/lockup geometry.

yeah i guess i'm too stupid to own a glock. all i did was drop a barrel in a g27 slide and figured it'd work.

Not stupid - you just didn't know.

Now, had you installed that barrel/slide combination on your G27 it would have been readily apparent. We might have even seen a couple questions about how to get it apart. :)
