I just purchased a new G26. I love it,very accurate. I have seen 2 G26's in the last 2 weeks with broken recoil rods. Are these flukes, or is this a weak part of this model. Is it wise to replace this rod with maybe a Wolff or other aftermarket recoil rod? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Glock had a recall on G26 recoil rods about a year or so ago. They sent me one for free. My rod had not failed nor did it show any signs of failing. It had several thousand rounds on it.
I put the new rod in and another several thousand rounds later, I've not had any problems.
Many folks on this board have replaced their rods and springs. Most of them did it as preventive maint and not because they had a failure. Some of them did have guide rod breakage.
I insepct mine after every range session, when I clean my pistol. If I ever see a problem, I might consider an aftermarket rod but after so many rounds downrange, I suspect I'd just get another stock rod.
I do not shoot any +P ammo and perhaps that makes a difference. I couldn't say.
My 26 is just fine as I bought it.

PS. I did add Agrip though. ;)

I bought my G26 used about 18 months ago. I've had no problems after around 1500 rounds through it by me. I assume it was the original guide rod assembly.

I am replacing my guide rod assembly for my G19 (It looks narly after 9 years, but still works fine.) and went ahead and ordered one for my G26 too. I got a stainless version with "captured" factory springs at Glockmeister.com. Preventative maintanance. No problems. I just ordered these yesterday.
