First off I have read all previous posts here on G23 vs G19 and also every other website. I am buying a Gen 4 tomorrow in a 23 or 19. Don't mind buying the 9mm conversion for the 23. I shoot a lot and the price of 40sw ammo is much higher.

Please give best or worst case for the 23 with LWD 9mm conversion. I would carry the 23 with 40sw and shoot often just not as much as 9mm with LWD. I shoot 500 per week total.

I like most people count on great feedback for next purchase.

    Thanks

Have a gen3 23. Absolutely love it. Carry with various .40 SD ammo feeling much safer than with a 9mm.

At the range, I pop in the LWD .40 to 9mm barrel, use 9mm magazines and shoot to my wallets content. The conversion barrel has been flawless with 500 or more rounds through it.

Since I find I need to work on my grip (huge hands) and trigger control, ammo caliber is less important than practice for me. The 9mm conversion has easily paid for itself, and I get much more practice this way.

For Christmas I'll probably add a stock G32 barrel which will give me the option to shoot .357sig. The .40 mags feed .357 fine I'm told. The G19 has no such flexibility.

G23 and the LWD 9mm conversion. Have 100's of rounds through the LW. Works perfect!!

If you go with the G23 you can also drop in a stock G32 Barrel and get 357sig, as well as 9mm. 3 in one sounds like a winner

I too have a triple caliber Gen 3 G27 and love it.
My 40-9mm conversion barrel is a Storm Lake.
But Lone Wolf, KKM and Storm Lake all have great reputations
    and will serve you well.

I have to vote G23 also. I have a Gen3 G23 and a LWD 9mm Conv barrel. Have run about 500 rds each of WWB and Federal through the conv barrel with no issues.

I have also been thinking of buying G32 barrel for the added option of another caliber.

My vote would be for the G23, so that you will have the option for multiple calibers and lead projectiles out of the same pistol.

Be sure to check out KKM Precision, too. I picked up a stock-length drop-in barrel for my G20SF so that my brass would not get the guppy belly or bulge from shooting out of the stock Glock barrels. Makes life easier for reloading.

    Good luck on your choice!

I traded my 23 for a 19. Never saw myself needing to swap out barrell's, however if shooting multiple calibers is what your after then absolutely. I just figured if I want to shoot .40 it would be better time spent doing it with my duty weapon.

Im going to have to agree with everyone else, my vote goes for the g23, for a couple reasons, the conversion barrel bassicly gives you the g19. also as other people have stated you can also put in a g32 barrel in and shoot .357 sig, which EXACTLY what im going to do for my gen 4 23 i just bought a few weeks ago. You cant go wrong with the G23

It depends also on funds, a9mm barrel from LW, Storm Lake, KKM would range from 109 to 175 plus lets say a 9mm mag for 25. A new G19 would be 500ish. If money is no option then you should ask yourself is it better to have another gun or will you be ok with changing out the barrel while on a range trip. Cleaning one gun and 2 barrels is easier but so is picking up one gun and then another.

If I had the extra funds I'd say go for the G19 if not the conversion barrel is a great option.

I have 18 G19 mags. So I am guess I that I am could there. I was thinking of ordering LWD because it is the most talked about. It should pay for itself soon..

I have a 23 with the conversion barrel, 9mm trigger housing, and 9mm extractor. It functions flawlessly. I'd feel confident carrying it in that set up. But, others will certainly disagree with that statement.

Bottom line---if you bought a new gun, ran 1000 trouble free rounds through it, would you carry it? I would. Same goes for the conversion set up in my opinion.

Didn't change the extractor in my 23, so it ejects to 4 or 5 o-clock. Not a problem.

LWD always seems to be out of stock. I saved a bundle buying the LWD .40-9 conversion barrel through Cheaper Than Dirt. They always seem to have ample stock.

The only advantage to having a gun that can shoot .40 is during a zombie apocalypse, you can forage for ammo off of half eaten cops.

See! Free ammo when you need it the most! As good a reason as any!

Bought the 23 Gen 4 today. $530 including tax. Charlotte gun show. Nobody had conversion barrels. Should I get the LWD, KKM or Storm Lake conversion 9mm barrel?

If I were shooting 500 rounds of 9mm ammo per week I would just get a G19, but in a Gen 4 I agree with the others to get a G23 like you did.

As for the conversion barrel, Lone Wolf is the least expensive and works well. KKM makes a very nice product, but I haven't seen that they are worth the extra money over the LW.

irony is.. Why hasn't anyone see if a Glock 19 can shoot 40 calibers with a glock 23 barrel. I'm positive it would work since if you compared the 23 and the 19 side by side they look identical

I'm positive it wouldn't work. The hole in the slide of the G19 will not accommodate the larger OD of the .40 barrel. With my calipers the 9mm barrel OD is .569", the .40 barrel OD is .589". I believe, but haven't measured, that the breech face of the G19 slide is too narrow for the .40 casing.
