I have arthritis in my wrists and hands -
I can still load A magazine or TWO with my fingers - but if I go shoot a few hundred rounds and load the mags without a tool I get to the point where my hands start to weaken and shake - the next day I will not be able to even tie my own shoes - takes all the fun out of shooting.
Uplula is my solution.
It is true - keeping a mag fully loaded does not damage the spring.
It is also true that loading up a mag and keeping it in the gun will help relax the new spring and make it easier to load.
I know BOTH of these are true because I have observed them both many times.
My G21 mags were so tight that after I finally crammed the last round in them and snapped them into the gun I could not rack the slide -
I did this --
Trying to duplicate the stress of having a fully loaded mag inserted in a gun.
After a couple weeks - I could rack the slide --
Just an example - not real values.
It is sort of like this. :dunno:
Say a new unused spring is rated at 100 inch pounds
For a gun to function the spring needs at least 50 inch pounds of force.
Leaving a new mag fully loaded for a few weeks takes the force from 100 down to 95.
Leave it loaded for another month takes it from 95 down to 93
Leave it loaded for another year takes it from 93 down to 91
Leave it loaded for another 10 years drops from 91 down to 90.
Leave it loaded for another 10 years drops it from 90 down to 89.75.
