I bought a Gen 4 Glock 21 yesterday and after cleaning and lubing it, I headed out to the range today and put the gun through its paces. I fired a total of 260 rounds. The breakdown of rounds was as follows:

All 230 gr. bullets-

50 rounds PMC
50 rounds American Eagle
100 rounds of my reloads (plated 230 gr. bullets)
40 rounds of Winchester Ranger-T (standard pressure)
20 rounds of Federal Hydra-Shok

There were no malfunctions of any kind. The vast majority of empty cases ejected about 4 feet to the right of me. I did not have any empties hit me in the head or even come close.

Accuracy was excellent as was controllability. Shooting with one hand was easy. I find my Gen 2 Glock 23 has more felt recoil. My G21 Gen 4 comes with the fired shell casing dated August 31, 2011. I can't say enough good things about this gun. Anyone sitting on the fence about getting one should jump on it!

Its good to hear a positive report on a new pistol. Congrats.
You ain't lying, especially a Gen 4. I'd love to have one of these. OP, have you experienced the recoil of an earlier gen 21 model to compare it with this one? Just curious. Congrats on your gun and enjoy.

I am thinking of G21 Gen 4 as my replacement to my G17 Gen 3 as my nightstand gun when my 9mm collection is complete and have more range time on them. How is recoil compared to Gen 3 and 40mm? Is grip better? I have larger hands. Enjoy!

Yes, I've fired a Gen 3 Glock 21 and though the difference in felt recoil between the Gen 3 and 4 is not significant, there is a noticeable difference. I always thought the standard Gen 3 Glock 21 grip was too beefy even for my large hands. The Gen 4 grip is just perfect for me -- almost the feel of a Gen 3 Glock 17/22 grip. Glock Inc. should have done this to the G21 years ago. I think they have a winner with this particular Gen 4.
