Glock 20 SF. Worth the leap? I'm considering one. I'd like to know your thoughts. What's your experience? Pros and cons.

I am waiting to buy one. I have a Gen 2.5 20C, but my experience with my 21SF has lead me to believe I shoot the SF better than the normal size grip.

What about what I’ve heard, about all of the malfunctions related to the SF model? I don’t buy it. But I want to hear more.

Are you confusing the SF models with the 4th generation frames? If so, I have very little experience with the 4th gen guns, probably 50 rounds or so of 40 cal from a Gen 4 G23. I watched several other guys as we burned through a LOT of ammo in 2 pistols and the 4th gen G23 never choked.

As for SF failures, the only problems I ever "heard" of, because I haven't experienced any, were sticky magazine releases on the ambidextrous release models. I went with a standard release and have been happy with it. I also have a 30sf and a 29sf. Both feel great and the smaller circumference makes a difference for me.

Hey Bama can't you put your 20 C slide onto the 21SF frame? My understanding was that only the grip diameter changed. I think you could use the frame from the 21 and the slide from the 20. you might want to investigate and see if this works. I know it works between 20 and 21 frames not sure if anything changed with the SF frame.

I'm sure you can, I just haven't had the need/desire. I rarely carry the 20c but I use as a hunting handgun (haven't shot anything with it yet). I was thinking the 20C would be a nice candidate for a grip reduction, a 6" barrel and a Lonewolf longslide, but I might just get the slide and barrel and use it on a 20sf.

OK, that is why I asked. I know of no problems with the SF models. Can you elaborate?

I'm asking about Gen 3 SF models, not Gen 4s. The rumors I've heard were about the SFs and frame endurance with the grip reduction. I don't buy it. But I want to hear more.

about all the problems with the sf models was with the G30 and not rtb(return to battery)...but they have fixed it. There is no problem with any full sized sf models and yes you can shoot a sf frame with a reg. slide(I use to shot my G20c slide on my G21sf frame and worked like a charm)

Well, what I've heard is about the frame revision, given the pressures exerted by 10mm and 45ACP. But especially 10mm. Lead to concerns over long-term viability and integrity of the 20SF frame, the more you shot it. Meaning, the frame became unreliable and questionable (over the long term), and couldn’t withstand the pressures. …I don’t buy it.

The reason I want one. Is to have the easier trigger pull, and a slightly more manage feel. When I hold it. So for me. It’s a comfort issue. And if the SF design can fix that for me, sign me up.

I find these “concerns” to be baseless, as far as what I’ve found. But I’m ready to hear your thoughts.

No regrets on mine. The SF was good to go out of the box. The only con is that ammo is a bit more expensive.

How long ago was this? And what was the problem? It was just the 30SF, you said?

I'm considering this one. Given the camera flash, I can't tell if the sights are Night Sights are not? The auction description says they are, but I wanted your opinion on it.

The sights are a 3-Dot picture. So they're not standard Glock sights. I just don't know anything else.

I think it was a trigger bar issue and not a frame issue. Haven't heard much about it lately and nothing specific to the new guns at all.

Why all the Glock questions, shouldn't Martin Riggs be carrying a Beretta?:tongueout:

I'm a movie guy. So I was trying to use a name. That had a direct gun tie. I couldn't think of a good Glock related Movie Name.

    Matrix Swat 1999? :cop:

    Looks good!

I have a G.20 SF and I can't tell you how much I like it. It's an amazing gun. It feels so good in your hand and shoots so good.

The regular G.20 felt completely different in my hand but the SF fits so good.

I bought mine new but the one you're showing looks really good. Plus you get the Night Sights which I didn't get from the factory.
