In my opinion, definitely a 20 or maybe even a 40 (which is what I have). The 29s only real advantage from my standpoint is for concealed carry. On your property, why bother?
Glock 20 if you want to have a full grasp on the grip, also if you’re on your own property you don’t really need a Glock 29 unless you wanna walk around concealing it
I conceal carry a glock 20 it isn't difficult at all.
As Kentucky fan said, G20 is not difficult to concealed carry. I do it every day.
Never had any interest in a compact 10mm.

One persons perception of the differences bwtn the two will not be the same for another. The mentioned you can't make a 20 smaller but can mod a 29 larger makes the 29 bit more versatile. My 29 is my most accurate glock for me and I feel it can cover more bases due to its versatility than its larger brother.

I'd say the Glock 20, but then again it depends ons where you might live. In Black bear country at least a 10mm or maybe a shotgun, or 30-30. In the Griz AO, a 44 mag or bigger , a shotgun with slugs, a rifle at least 30-06 or better. Don't dick around as you life might depend on it.

I have both a G29 and a G20. Both are great guns and you can't really go wrong with either. I carry my G29 much more than I do my G20. Regardless of what folks say about the size difference, the G29 is much easier to carry, especially CC.

You will get a reduction in velocity with the G29 over the G20, but still quite a force to be reckoned with in the outdoors, or the streets.

With two of my favorite handloads, this is what the difference is between my G20 and G29.

- 180 XTP/9.5 Longshot (OAL 1.260) = 1378 fps (G20) 1277 (G29)

- 200 TCFP/8.4 Longshot (OAL 1.250) = 1282 fps (G20) 1193 (G29) NOTE: Missouri Bullet Co., “Steeler” Brinell 18

What 40 Mike Mike said above.

I have the G29 and my son has the G40. I can put a lone wolf 6 inch barrel on my G29 and it becomes just as accurate and hard hitting as the G40. My son and I have stood side by side and exchanged weapons. If you don't look at the weapons the G29 with the six inch barrel feels just like the G40.

There is nothing you can do to the G40 make it as easy to cary as the stock G29.

It might be ugly but it works.
If Glock offered a factory G29 with MOS capability, I wouldn’t even consider the G40. I love your setup btw! Super cool man 😎

So, basically you loose 100 FPS to the G20. Not too bad considering the much smaller footprint.

The real question, how is the recoil compared to the G20 with hotter handloads or Underwood / Buffalo Bore?

Tough decision, but the 20 is a happy medium. I had a 20 but after I bought the 40 and then a 29 I sold off the 20.
I carry the 40 in a Kenai chest holster on the wooded property, and use it for nightstand duty. I'll carry the 29 in the urban jungle.

I e got both, and for your use, G20 all the way... You’ll have a better grip on the gun, more capacity, better round velocity, and better sight radius. Just a better overall shooting platform.

That said, if I knew I’d be running up against a bear on my property, I’d have a 12 gauge shotgun slung over my shoulder, filled with slugs, with a G20 on my hip just in case,
