Really like my 19X, there a damn fine pistol but Glock makes good S.D / Duty Pistols anyway ;)

Now when Glock rolled that baby out I thought to myself WTF is this? & I gave my buddy a big ole pile of crap for buying the first one he saw, then I got my paws on it and shot it. Had to eat a couple Crow's.

As far as comparing it to the G45, I like the both of em, I prefer the 19X due to the color, that is it. They both shoot the same to me and handle the same. Now the G45 will kick a empty piece of brass into the next county even if it's a fiddle fart load due to the cutout in the breach face. I do intend to get another 19X AND a G45, I would like the G45 MOS version tho..

You will be happy with either.

I like mine, took it on a trip to Houston recently just for the mag capacity. It is a bit harder to conceal the longer grip though, even with the flush mag. The shorter barrel does help with keeping the end of the IWB holster from digging into my chubby leg though.

I have a Gen 5 G19LE on order from GT Dist if they ever come in. I miss having a 19 even though I have the 43, 26 , and 27.

I haven't fired mine yet, but it isn't going anywhere. If it shoots anything like my 45, then it will have a forever home. Trigger is very nice and my 45 points/shoots better than most anything else I have.

    19X just has gravitas...

it also has this, which the 45 doesn’t:

    For concealed carry, I agree.

For uniformed holster carry and use it might have a couple of advantages.

I use a high ride Blackhawk SERPA 3 for my issued G17/5. On presentation the pistol is drawn up until the muzzle clears and then transition forward to high ready. I don't carry either my 19X or G45 but I have practiced some with my duty rig. You wouldn't think the 3/4" or so would make a big difference but it does allow for easier and more fluid transition from draw to on-target because the forearm and elbow don't have to be taken up as far.

Also, when clearing smaller houses or spaces it gives a little extra clearance when hooking through doors, windows, or hatches. In my time I have heard and seen more than a few instances where a muzzle has made contact with door frame in close confines and quick movement. It might seem like an insignificant difference but every little bit helps.

For what its worth, I tried carrying my G34 for a short while. It was not comfortable. It dug into the car seat, lifted up my holster/belt, and put pressure on my strong side hip. After all of the paperwork I went through I carried it about a week.

Just for reference, the difference between the 17 and the 19X/45 is .47" in barrel length and .51" in overall length.

They're talking about the purple finish.

The 19X is my second all-time favorite of any model Gaston has ever made.
    Second only to the G42.

I like the way it feels in my hand, and it is a decent shooter, but isn't my most accurate pistol by any means

That is not a "purple finish"
That is the source of magic that makes the 19X so mystical!

I prefer the forward serrations, the Ameriglo Bold sights, and the mag interchangeability on the G45, but I really do like the color of the 19X.

Does the slide color kinda darken with time / shooting?

I didn’t dig the 19x at first from a looks perspective, but am a fan now. I’d probably cut off the front of the grip if I planned to keep / carry one.

Oils will make it appear darker.

But a good cleaning with Hornady One Shot will remove all the oils and restore it to its original glory.

When cleaned up, the 19X I’ve shot a bunch of USPSA matches with still looks brand new.
