I couldnt find any information on this subject because i didnt know what the proper term is but I have 2 g17s both gen 3 and one has the old magazine base plate cut? The one that has the cut is not that old 2005 i believe. My question is when did they stop these cuts and was the magazine base plate the only reason for these cuts?
    1 of them is a rtf2 but i don't thinks that matters.

Back when the G17 was first created, magazine were NFML, meaning they would not drop out of the pistol when fully or partially loaded. The cutout was to enable one to better grip the magazine for removal. Same on the Gen2 frames. There are not many old NFML magazines still in service, so Glock has stopped making frames with the cutout.
