Not the gun, but the magazine. Is this one a gen 3 and preban? By preban i mean pre fed awb... Sept 13 1994 Thanks for any info

Generations #1-4 were made before the ban.
Generations #5-6 were made during the ban.
Generation #7-8 was made after the ban.

The angled metal lip at the top... Seems like a post ban, no? Not a true square notch like in the pic you posted

The position of the ".40" indicates it is pre-ban.

That's what I understand to be true also, but it's been questioned about the angled top. So the opinion here is this mags preban and good to go? It's a felony if it's not. Stupid NYS awb

I promise its per-ban. You wont see those little matel dots on the bottom of the mags that were built after the ban.

What Tony said, glad I live in Indiana where we don't share this problem. I have a 15 rd mag in my cars console and another in the door pocket, thats thirty rounds for my G-23 or G-27 daily carry and in the trunk is the SHTF G-22 with three 15 rd mags. Pre-Post don't make a difference here, as long as they are not ten round mags for the mid and full size glocks is all I care about.

Yea, it sucks, but you work around the best you can. I'm stuck here with my wife's career, but hope to move to a free state one day. Thanks again for the input fellas

If the caliber marking is lower, it's pre-ban. If it's higher, it's post-ban. The magazine in your picture looks like a pre-ban to me. There were some pre-bans that had the higher caliber marking, but there's no way that I know of to distinguish them from post-bans.
