Alot of people I know are more comfortable with the Gen 3s, maybe the newbie perspective is different. Either way, lube it up modestly with TW25B light grease.

I wish there were grip design options from the factory.

No, the slide and frames of the Gen 4s are slightly thinner than the Gen 3s and are not interchangeable

The gen 4's in 9 mm will come with a dual recoil spring and steel guide rod. The gen 3's have a single spring and a plastic guide rod.

Never heard that one before...and I have fired a Gen3 G17 upper on a Gen4 G17 lower. I have Gen3 and Gen4 26's and could test interchangeability on them...but have never seen a reason to.

All Gen4 guns use the newer metal rod / dual spring RSA design. In Gen3, only the subcompacts did.

Anybody hear of good deals on Gen 4 leftovers? They have to be hard to sell with the Gen 5's out now at least the 17 and 19 dealers should be practically giving them away.

I doubt that. Some folks may actually prefer the Gen4. They aren't obsolete just because of a new model. It's not like an iPhone:)
