General David Petraeus for President! What do you think???
Where does he stand on the critical issues? And does he have a track record on them, not just some statements made after he decided to go political?
EVER which General surrounds the White House and defends the CONSTITUTION, Is who I would Vote for....
Don't know enough about him to say. I need to know what he believes in politically. I believe in voting for the person not the party that they might belong to.
Depends on where he stands on the important issues.
I'm sure he'd be better than Obama but honestly, who wouldn't?
That would be great!
Could you imagine the left trying to tear him apart? Even though they would try and fail miserably, they would make themselves look really bad! (Not that they already do...)
Why? If it was between him and a democrat, he'd get my vote, of course, but what makes him a good choice for Republican candidate?
Unfortuantely, the way politics really works, you are electing the party at least as much as the person, since the debts incurred by a candidate receiving his party's support gives the party a lot of power over his office.
Good generals make bad presidents. Keep him where his experience is most valuable.
I'm trying to think of a general who's been a good president. HH
Horrible idea. Petraeus has an enormous ego - you think Obummer is a narcissist, wait 'til you get to know Petraeus.
Hardly. He has yet to do *anything* to deserve it.
Well, except for some losers named Washington, Jackson and Eisenhower.
THANKS for telling him, I didn't want kicked off GT for calling him a dumb ***, IF you know what I mean ?
depends on his politics, but being a military guy hes already got a +1 in my book. it would be interesting to see if he could keep it.
I worked with Dave Petraeus when he was an 04 and 05. He is a fine officer, a great leader, an excellent resource manager and a patriot. He has proven his mettle in the war balancing military needs with political requirements and would make an excellent candidate for president.
Exactly! I good military officer never reveals his politics but the fact that he has dedicated his entire career defending our country, that is a huge plus! Serving one day in uniform is more of an accomplishment that what our sad excuse for a president has ever accomplished.
Although I will get flamed for this, I have ALWAYS believed a qualification for president should be serving in our armed forces. Even if its just reserve or guard, it's one over average Joe.
Washington would top that list.
Washington and Ike did fine. Grant, not so much. I can't think of any others off the top of my head, but it is late (for me). Jackson? Any one else?
