I have to remind myself that over the course of 25 years of military service, there are many individuals from the various branches of service I interacted either once in my lifetime or on a frequent/regular basis. General Colin Powell was one I dealt with regularly. I had much respect for him as a person and as a leader of servicemembers. Truly, he was personable and as charismatic as they come.

Outside the military? OK, different perspective but the trust and respect never waivered.

Rest In Peace sir!

I applaud his Military service. But in the political world he fell woefully short. His anti-Trump stance didn't help. The selfishness of his political position basically has negated what was once a respected military career.

Powell was an esteemed member of the Uni-Party and a Globalist turncoat. Watch his speech on the floor of the UN showing pictures guaranteeing WMD to sell the invasion of Iraq which costs our service members their lives & trillions of dollars.
Endorsed Socialist Obama X2
Biden supporter as well.
Endorsed Hillary Clinton.
Actually too much to type. He was NOT one of the good guys! He was great at undermining

Never met the guy and only have observations from the political realm and as such didn't like the guy, too far left and always the go to for the media to denigrate a Republican.
. . .which is why I posted this in the military service sub forum and not the political issues one.

Soldiers have no political alliance. Period. They follow orders of politicians but they are not political.

. . .Had you met the "guy" you would understand.

Don't care about his politics either. That's why he chose not to run for president or any other political office. Smart move by a smart man. After the military, he became a private citizen free to say whatever he wanted to good or bad about ANY politician.

It's politics. . .and ALL politicians lie. He was never a politician.

What most people don't know was that he was a life long democrat
and assumed he was republican since Bush liked him so much.

He kept his politics to himself while serving,
but once he was retired he said what he had thought all along.

I didn’t agree with some if his politics but thought he was a good soldier.
. . .which is why I put this in the military service and not political issues.

Technically, as Secretary of State, he works for the government and not a political party, lately. . .to many people can't differentiate between the two. He spoke for the United States related to foreign policy. He worked both militarily and in civil service for Republican administrations. To me? No political agenda there. . .not as much as actually running for office.

I mean . . .General Mattis was the Secretary of Defense under Trump. Did that make him political?

Why he’s the guy that told me WMDs were in Iraq- sure he was a straight shooter cause no one in dotmil/dotgov was ever part of the complex that’s raped and killed the Republic. Useful toadies like him is why joining the dotmil is about the only thing my kids could do to be disowned by me. Flame all you want I served and am content with the knowledge that leadership is POS

Don't know when YOU served, but you might be a little bi-polar.

General Colin Powell NEVER EVER said there were WMDs in Iraq, so that's a ball faced lie you just told.

I did hear that the Secretary of State made a statement
On February 5, 2003, as the United States was preparing to invade Iraq, Secretary of State made a pivotal presentation to the United Nations Security Council claiming Saddam Hussein was developing weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
See? Your statement is flawed. Badly flawed. Typical of those with no discerning eye or critical thinking skills.

You said "the guy told me WMDs were in Iraq."

Secretary of State Powell said they were "developing." Seems to me those are two totally different statements with totally different meanings?

Further, the same people who told HIM told the President as well? You gonna say President Bush told you too about the WMDs?

Probably. . .if your logic tracks.

He helped lie us into a war in Iraq, then spent the remainder of his days covering for the globalist cabal of sycophants that seek to destroy our liberty and nation.

Perhaps he had some good qualities, but his actions of the past 20 years show he wasn’t a great man. By every qualification laid out in the Nuremberg trials, he was a war criminal.
