It was a great day at the range and plate rack today. The new Gen4 G17 fired:

200 rounds American Eagle 124-gr FMJ, power factor of 142.60 with 100% reliability

    Then

200 rounds Winchester USA 115-gr FMJ, power factor of 136.85 with 100% reliability

    then

100 rounds of my 147-gr Montana Gold FMJ reloads, power factor of 132.20 with100% reliability.

I did not have any Blazer Brass 115-gr FMJ, power factor of 129.38 to test.

    I am a happy Glocker.:devildance::perfect10::devildance:

Congrats! I think it might be a matter of letting the recoil springs break in a little. I got a new G27 and WOW is that spring stiff compared to my G23.

Danny - you need to shoot 200rds of Wolf through it and let us know how that does.

Danny- Congrats on the Gen 4 G17, glad its working out.

I wasn't a believer or even interested in the Gen 4 until I recently handled one. The full size pistol now feels good to me! I think Glock did a great job with the modifications.

I just today picked up a Gen 4 G22 and will be taking it to the range tomorrow rain or shine..

Danny, could you comment on your impressions of the recoil dynamics of the G4 G17? I've shot a few mags through one and was astounded by the flat recoil. I just got home with a brand new one and just changed out the sights. I just don't get tired of hearing people describe this flat handling pistol. ;)

Seven people have fired 3,900 flawless rounds from my G4 G17 using.
    115 AE
    115 WWB
    115 Champion
    124 AE
    124 NATO
    124+P HST
    124+P GS
    147+P HST
    147 GS
Also fired 115 WWB from my G4 G17 with a G3 G17 slide as well as 180 WWB while using a G35 slide and no issues using stock extractor and ejector. I am using a G3 trigger/triggerbar and massaged G3 trigger housing.

Yes, it's a flat shooter with factory ammo, and with my reloads you don't even notice the recoil. That's the beauty of a 147-gr FMJ traveling at only 900 fps. I've set it up with Ameriglo sights, a factory 3.5# connector and extended slide stop lever for competition. The trigger is not as smooth as my 1996 Gen2 G19, but that's the diffrence of 66,300 more rounds through the G19.

I will be shooting both in the Morganton, NC GSSF match later this month. I've always shot the G19 better than a G17, G17L or G34, so I'm anxious to see if the Gen4 frame makes any difference in actual competition.

If you are interested in trying factory ammo equivalent to my reloads, try Cor-Bon 9mm Match Ammo, 147-gr at 900 fps.

My load is either a Montana Gold or Remington Match 147-gr over 5.0-gr of AA#5, Federal primers.

OK. First post. Newbie, but not to guns. I was an 8" 357 SW kinda guy. Liked 1911s. Desert Eagles. Taurus 454 Casuls. But over the last few years got real intersted in Glocks. Engineering elegance. I study stuff to death. Out shopping with wife for her second gun. Dealer guy says he has a G17 G4 just in. I have held and fired plenty of Glocks in many calibers. I pick it up. With the large grip, it was made for my hand. It was love. I can't get this gun out of my hand it is so comfortable. I had just recently read in Combat Handgun about the G4s. I bought it on the spot. I know everyone is already a fan on this forum. But guys, this gun is amazing. Flat. So easy to shoot. My only problem was that it has such a slight perceived recoil that I was pushing and hitting low. Made the adjustment. Only have had a thousand rounds thru it. From Pakinstani junk to Winchester JHPs. It is so good, it is actually boring. But what a gun. I CC the G17 with an Active ProGear Deep Concealment underarm holster. I am going to buy every G4 model made.

Good to hear, I had been reading about how many people thought that the 4th gen 17s were oversprung.
