If you had the option of picking a Gen1 or Gen2 G23 or which ever your favorite GLOCK is, which Generation would you choose and why?...

    Thanks for the feedback.

There are no Gen 1 G23's....The Gen 1's were only made in 17, 17L, and 18, and very few 19's...

Maybe I should of thought this post out a little more lol.... Ok I guess what I should be asking is, for what reasons would someone prefer a Gen1/2 over a Gen3 and why (other than the obvious finger groves) I never owned a Gen2 but thinking bout picking one or two up...

Get a Gen1 first then a Gen2... Why? Simple fact the Gen1's are hard to get and the Gen2's are mass produced so u can always find them...

    I've owned gen2, 3 and 4 Glocks. Gen4 are my favorite, followed by gen2.. I'd love to own a gen1 G17 someday.

I prefer Gen 2. In fact I have two Gen 2 G23's sitting on my work table right now; one I just picked up yesterday. This one has seen way too much abuse. There are actually rusty parts inside. I'll call Glock on Monday and get the new parts on the way.

    Oh, and why Gen 2?

    Cause everybody's got a Gen 3 or 4. :whistling:

Ya, I'm thinking about picking up a LEO trade in Gen2 G23 for about $350 and doing a little work on it. Possibly may be my next carry gun considering I sold the G27.

There are no Gen 1 G23s, only G17s and very, very few G19s.

Between Gen2 and Gen3 I'd prefer Gen3 because the front frame rail insert has extra reinforcement to stop frame battering. The reinforcement was added to .40 G22 frames in the CNX prefix and after, and to .40 G23 frames in the CPU prefix and after.

I have no idea when that reinforcement was added to 9mm frames, I assume at the same time they received the locking block pin. But it's not necessary in 9mm frames anyway, Glock has a Gen1 G17 with 348,210 rounds through it and one Gen2 G19 owner reports over 750,000 rounds through his.

In a .40 I'd go straight to Gen4 for the improved recoil spring set-up, grip texture/backstraps, and re-designed magazine release button. Presumably, they've got things worked-out now to preclude accessory rail issues with Gen4 .40's.

In a 9mm, I don't want to know anything after Gen2. In fact, I like the Gen1 (G17) grip texture best of all. No improvements required; Glock got 9mm right long before Y2K.

No hater-ade here. If I only had a Gen2 or Gen3 G23 to choose from, I'd go for a Gen2. The reason is that I don't like fingergrooves and thumbrests. I barely notice them, though, on the G19/G23 frames. I notice the positioning of the thumbrest, in particular, MUCH MORE on a G17/G22 than on a G19/G23.

I think the Gen 2 is the best looking Glock.

    I like my gen 2's a lot, a 19 and a 22. They are both great shooters.

Some porn, both my gen 2's with a 26
