Does anybody think the pinky cutout for "easy magazine removal" affects your grip on that model 19 gen 5? I'm leaning towards a 19 gen 4 instead basically because it has a finger groove for my pinky. Nato 9mm is what my mother shot fairly accurately out of the gen 5 and had nothing to compare to. She didn't notice anything wrong with the grip but I don't want the magazine cutout giving me an issue at all. Should I get a gen 4? I don't plan on customizing it besides night sights. Thanks in advance for your input.

Gen 4 won’t disappoint you. I daily carry my Gen 4 purchased new 3 years ago. Never a hiccup.

The newer Gen 5 G19 pistols don't have the cutout.

My 19.5 has the cutout. While I would prefer it not be there, it does not bother me at all while gripping or shooting the gun.

20200729_175128.jpg As a lefty, I would not consider any Glock without the Gen 5 features.

The gen5 "19 mos f.s." also does not have the cutout. I love mine.. I went with a Trijicon type2 red dot with 6.5moa dot in matte black, with trijicon bright and tough suppressor height night sights (green set,) and an agency arms syndicate trigger, (black polymer version. I thought it was cool cause it matched my black polymer pistol, and it is my favorite flat style glock trigger that I've tried.. It's awesome.)

I had an early Gen 5 19 and the cutout did pinch. And I have small hands. Not a problem n the 17/34 frame for me. Got a newer one without the cutout and it is just fine. And off topic, I thought I would hate the front slide serrations, but I don't.

I had an early Gen5 and the cutout didn't bother me other than aesthetics. I now have a newer version with no cutout and all is right in the world.

I think it’s a personal preference. The cutout on my 19M bugs me a lot less than the finger grooves on the Gen 4.

Are you sure about the new models not having the cutout?

My g19 gen 5 has forward serrations and no cutout. When I bought it , the first one they were going to sell me was the version 1 w/cutout no f/s. Luckily i noticed and they pulled me out a newer one.

    Hate the cut out.
Was so happy to see the finger groves go but not to see the cut out reaper (from Gen 2).

I have a Gen 2 G19 and HATE the magazine cutout at the bottom of the grip. I know why they did it at the time (early Glock mags weren't metal-lined and would expand and wouldn't drop free) but that was decades ago. Other manufacturers put small cutouts on the sides of the grip or none at all, both of which make perfect sense to me.
I love my old G19 and it works every time, which is why I keep it. It's the most reliable firearm I've ever owned and has the most rounds through it, bar none. But that annoying little cutout bugs me every effing time I shoot it.
    Just one old guy's opinion.

Doesn't bother me cause I actually help tip my clip out by using the cut out.

That's a special model. The Glock model 45 has no cutout and uses Gen 5 parts if I remember correctly. I might go with that one. If you don't know what it is it's essentially a glock 19 slide with front serrations on the slide with a gen 5 17 grip for 17 round magazines. I don't currently carry a pistol but I still like Glock. 1911s were my thing for a while but they're a project.

You will purchase a Glock 45 9mm. The King of GLOCK.

It's merely a matter of time.
It's in the deepest crevices of your mind. And you know it.
So don't fight the urge. It is futile. It shall be settled in short order.

The day will soon come upon every GLOCK aficionado whereas the G45 will makes it's grand appearance within the broad array of any sensible pistol owner's collection.

    Pistols take magazines.

A clip is used to load bullets into rifles.

FYI Pearce makes a magazine baseplate that fills in the Gen 2 & Gen 5 cutout.
