I'm fine with this, more mass the better.
Have you owned or spent any time shooting a Gen 5 Glock?
Renewed my GSSF last week, and stopped at a Blue Label LE distributor today, placed deposit to receive one of the first 23 when they come in. Was told they will be received in October, but not sure exactly when. Was told their first shipment of 22 spoken for. Apparently one or more local departments had placed orders for Gen 4 22, right before Glock announced they were discontinued and last batch already made.
NO, they don't provide any significant improvements for me to justify them. I'll stick with my Gen2/3s.
I feel no temptation. I am content with my frying pan 2003 G22.
I have seven Gen2 and one Gen3 .40 Glocks. (That's most my handguns.)
I'm eager to buy a Gen3 G35 (are you listening, Glock?), because the Gen3 is my "under-the-bed" gun, and it's a Gen3 because I want/need the rail to mount a WML.
However, I hate the finger grooves on the Gen3. I know I could grind the finger grooves off the Gen3, but it still wouldn't be a Gen2 (which feels just right).
So, I would buy a Gen5 35 to replace the Gen3, if Glock will make a 35 or a 24...
Davidson's has a listing for Gen 5 35
Oh, that's awesome...
If the G35 comes as an MOS, then I might seriously consider putting an ACRO on it.
Stupid question: Gen5 .40 mags are going to be compatible with the Gen2-4 .40 mags, right?
New mags would be a deal-breaker for me... I have a zillion Gen2-4 .40 mags, and no way do want to keep new/different Gen5 mags separate.
Should be just like 9mm where all mags work, however only Gen 4 and 5 can be swapped to LH.
This pic shows that the slides are clearly bevelled at the bottom to give a nicer appearance to the girth compared to the frame.
Here are all of the Gen 5 .40 SKU numbers I've been able to find. Hope these help in the searching.
They look great, just need MOS.
Here is a short video of someone shooting a Gen5 G22.
Ohh boy, One of my all time Glock wishes has apparently been answered, the G-35 in GEN. 5 configuration !! I can live with either, Standard or MOS, as I don't plan on adding an Optic, at least for the immediate future. Now, please Glock & Company, offer an .357 Sig Conversion Barrel & I'll finally have my true 'response pistol'.
Should sell well
A LEO friend of mine was doing T&E on the Gen 5 22 & 23; he was allowed to buy them at a discount rate.
I doubt I’ll buy one, but I’ll at least shoot his to see what’s what with them.
Be sure to let us know what they're like and if you can let us know if they fit in gen 5 9mm holsters.
I am worried about going back to 2 pins, however I may use my GSSF coupon on a new G22, I'd need a new holster for it anyway since I don't have any full size Glocks.
Also I'm very curious whether they did actually reinforce the 9mm frame for .40, will a Gen 4 G32 .357 barrel exchange into Gen 5 G23 guns.
Sorry if I'm sounding too bossy.... just so little information available.
You mean like this? Just sent mine in to Cold Bore Custom.
I’ll ask him about holsters but may have to grab one and see if it fits in one of the PD holsters since they went with Gen 5 17s.
As for the strength of frame issue, perhaps the larger slide has some impact on frame battering; maybe lessening it in conjunction with the dual recoil spring?
