I've had a Gen 4 G17 now for a couple weeks and I find the new design great. The SF frame fits my hand better than ever. I've got smaller hands so the change is significant. The new recoil assembly seems very strong and well-built and it gives the pistol and overall tighter fit-feel. I'm happy that Glock chose to retain the regular vertical slide serrations. I will keep my Gen 3's for sure, however, I will only purchase Gen 4's from now on. I'm really looking forward to the G19/23 versions to roll out!

    To the Gen 4!

I think you might be only the 12th person that appreciates the changes in design, sir!

I was under the impression that Glock merely changed the grip texture(again)and added a "revolutionary" 2 pc. guiderod??? Am I wrong? How long have other mfg's been adding interchangeable backstraps now?? Glock isnt even keeping up. Much ado about nothing.

The Gen 4's have a new frame texture , guide rod , and backstraps (SF/Med./Large) , also include a 3rd magazine . Oh , and ambi. mag release .

I held a Gen4 G22 and liked the feel. I think I will buy a Gen4 G19 when they come out. Of course I am one of the handful that likes the RTF2 design (fish gills and all)

There are a few companies offering interchangeable back-straps. How many actually allow you to use the gun without one installed?

The initial Glock design marked a turning point in the design of handguns. Since the G-17 was brought to market, every other manufacturer has had to design with a view to either equaling or exceeding Glock. Some manufacturers have incorporated features into their designs that address market concerns which have developed since the G-17 and its subsequent permutations were brought to market. With the Gen. 4, Glock takes another step forward. Other manufacturers will have to keep up.

You must not be well informed relative to the G4 Glocks.

I think it is a case of Glock trying to keep up with the other manufacturers. The S&W MP's, Springfield XD's, and FNP-9's and 40's and other polymer guns have taken a lot of sales away from Glock. It is a step forward for Glock and it is necessary to keep up with the competition.

Yep.. but at least you're not afraid to share your completely uninformed opinion of something you've never seen, held, or shot.

Since 2000 when I switched from a Gen 2 G23 to a Gen 3 G19, I've believed the G19 to be the best out of the box carry gun in the world. However, it was just ever so slightly too large for my hand....very subtle but I could tell it was just a tad to big as far as trigger reach. When the 21SF came out, I said to myself I hope Glock comes out with a G19SF. Well, it looks like they are and then some! It makes me feel like a kid because I haven't been as excited about a product in years. :wow:

I also like the feel of the Gen4. Fits my hand better than the Gen3 which is slightly too large for me. Looking forward to a Gen4 19/23. Does anyone know of any plans for a Gen4 G32?
