Are these new recoil springs any good? I called Glock and was told that all G26s are getting the newer spring regardless of what generation they are. Mine dates to 2/22/12. I was also told the older style wasn't available anymore.

Sorry if this has been covered. I did a quick search and didn't see much.

I know of no difference in the G26 recoil spring assemblies. The Gen4's have had zero problems. The Gen3's have had zero problems. Zero is zero.:whistling:

Thanks for the reply Danny, This first picture is what I've had in every G26 I've owned which is (4) 3rd Gens.

This is what I got in my newest G26 and 2 extras I bought from Midway which were pictured the same as above on the website. Just seeing what the deal was.

    Double Dang! :steamed:

Now they are using that split "plug" like the Gen4 full-size guns & compacts!

I was hoping that would never happen. :crying:

I've heard good things about the Wolff springs. Still haven't had an issue with a factory one though so I'll probably just stick with them for now.

I can't complain just yet because I haven't shot it. Still kinda bummed though for some reason.

What does the above have to do with the subject of this thread?

At any rate, the new OEM G26 recoil spring assembly pictured is news to me too but then again I have always relied on the non-captured Wolff recoil spring assembly in my subcompact Glocks. I'd be curious if you notice any difference between the new part and the old. I have used the old in both my 3G and 4G Model 26 and they work fine, I just feel more confident with the Wolff. Thanks.

I'll come update the thread tomorrow after the range. The spring does feel stiffer/heavier when racking the slide than any of my others did out of the box.

Thanks for the pics! I asked this same question about a week ago and no one else had even seen the new version.

I'm a little disappointed that they didn't add the metal muzzle cap to capture the muzzle end of the spring. Sometimes half of the muzzle end of the spring will work its way over the plastic muzzle cap and get stuck, and it's a little more trouble than it should be to get it seated onto the barrel lug.

Very interesting. I just bought my wife a gen4 g26 with a 2-3-12 test fire date. Got it on 2-11-12 and it has the older unexposed inner spring style recoil assembly like you would expect on the gen 3. It is the stiffest recoil assembly I have every handled, but it is the old style.

You're welcome for the pics. I think it probably would have made sense to use the metal end too if they were going through the trouble of changing the design anyway. I've heard of the spring slipping over the end in some of the 3rd gen subcompacts but never had any issues with it myself. Time will tell I suppose.
