Just had a local Glock rep come to my PD's range and introduce the system and let us shoot the G22 and G17. I have to say I really like the changes. The backstraps change the grip 1/8" smaller or larger than the standard grip. The RTF was a nice addition too. I always had to use a Hogue grip on my G22 when I shot it. The mag release seems much easier to access too. We have an injured officer who has one hand immobilized and was able to manipulate the gun very well.

Overall I'm very impressed. IF I were still shooting a Glock on duty I would definitely make the change to the Gen 4.

Is that why they took your Glock away, because you kept shooting it in duty?

I tried the RTF and hated it. Felt irritating to my skin and I can't imagine holding it for a long time with that chafing my sensitive palms. As for the backstrap, never had a problem with the standard G17/22 frame, but if it works for some, more power to them!

Too afraid of pissing off your dept issued manicurist? We know how you LA boys are all metro and such.

By the way, can you send me one of those LAPD issue sweater vest/scarf combos? My wife likes them. :tongueout:

I really like my Gen 4. I dont use the backstraps. The Gen3 RTF was way too rough for me, but the Gen4 RTF is just the right amount of texture. The biggest deal for me is the bigger mag release.

Bought the Gen 4 for 425.... sold the Gen 3 for 400. Best 25 bucks i've spent.

I would like to give the RTF a try. I held one the other day, and the texture seemed rough but I would like to shoot one to see what it is really like.

What is the difference in the generation 3 and generation 4 RTF texture?

    Edit: Anyone got pics?

I have a Gen3 G22 and a Gen4 G22, the RTF on the Gen4 is less sharp and the grip is slightly smaller and the recoil is slightly less but I can tell only by shooting the Gen3 then the Gen4.
I do like the new mag release button.
All is good , some like one gen and some like the others.

Gen 3 is a lot sharper..... i found it uncomfortable. I can shoot the Gen4 all day.

It was a fun afternoon at the range shooting Glocks ammo. Can't beat that. And i picked up a few Glock pens as a bonus.

I liked both the 17 and 22. The Gen4 seems to be an improvement over the Gen3, which I like and carry. I was most impressed with the 17, which I found very accurate and soft shooting. The 22 also seemed a little softer shooting than my Gen3 22. I probably put close to a hundred rounds through them.

For $478 with nightsights, I'll more than likely pick one up.

Thanks, Glock, for coming to town.

What did you think...can you tell the difference in recoil with the new Gen 4 recoil spring?

I think so. It's not night and day. But the Gen4s seem a little softer shooting, the G22 in particular seemed less whippy. I liked the slimmer feel of the Gen4s without the inserts.

Haven't shot one, just played with one in the store. I didn't like the RTF frame. Seemed like it would wear a hole in your uniform shirt after rubbing against it, or your forearm in the summer.
