Anyone heard when these might be coming out? I love my 30SF, but would love the RTF of one of the new Gen 4's even better in a 30. We've probably got awhile to wait, and maybe by then all the problems with the SF will be worked out and in the past. :)

The Gen 4 was to fix a problem with lights mounted on the gun and since subcompacts don't have light rails don't look for a Gen 4 frame. and RTF2's are not made in subcompact.

The G30 has a light rail, as does the G29.

The Gen4 was not "to fix a problem with lights," although it should help with that.

The G30 has a light rail.

    Nobody mentioned RTF2 except you.

But I think Seawolf's response was better :)

JMO but I would think the 30 has to be toward the top of the queue. Glock showed their sensitivity to warranty claims by making the redesigned recoil spring the centerpiece of the G22/4 makeover. We've seen a number of GTer's getting replacement guns for their defective 30s. I'm sure they are also keen to reduce the number of SKUs they have to produce and inventory. With Gen4, there will only be one variant--no SFs or RTFs.

I actually think the "video" responses are rather immature and offer little to the topic at hand.

    What's currently availabe = Glock 17Gen4 and 22Gen4.
    What's expected to be available around Q3 2010 = Glock 19Gen4, 23Gen4 and 37Gen4.
What's expected after that = no one knows for sure.

Since, the 9x19mm, .40S&W, .357SIG and .45GAP Glocks all use the same frame, it would be logical to assume that Glock will release the Gen4's for those calibers first.

The SF option for the third generation Glock frame, is only available to the large framed Glocks and is a way to make the grip feel less bulky.

The RTF2 option for the third generation Glock frame, was done per LE request for a more aggressive grip on duty pistols to use in wet/humid enviroments. The Gen4 Glocks use the RTF3 texture and is less aggressive than the RTF2.

Did you have anything to offer to the topic at hand, or just want to criticize someone else for not doing so? At least his post was in good fun.

This was a legit question... whether or not .45 would be available in Gen 4. Anyone know? The 23 and 19 are out, how long for the .45s to hit the news?

Not correct. Here is a link to another forum where people have posted articles already advertising the G26, and G27 in Gen 4. Apparently hitting the market in November in Europe.

    The Glock 37Gen4 is out.
So, there are .45 caliber Gen4 Glocks.

A glock 30 is a compact, not subcompact, and it does have a light rail (I have a light on mine) and the Gen 4 is to provide a choice of three grip frames as far as i know and has nothing to do with the rails. I do not have all the credentials that you do so what do i know? I could be wrong.

No intent to hijack thread and mods move if needed please....

Being new to the model 30 as I just bought a used generation 2.5 model 30, what does the above quote refer to in reference to the "defective 30's"?

    Thanks

I'd like to know this, too. I had heard of some sporadic issues regarding the trigger bars on the G30sf, but definitely not with the G30 overall.

I wouldn't worry about your G30, they tend to run like a top. I've put about 2.5k rounds through mine without a hiccup.

There were a number of long running threads regarding problems with the G30SF slide dragging on the trigger bar resulting in Failure To Return To Battery (FTRTB) and a nice gouge on the TB. These threads (search please) seemed to be mostly populated with Glock customers from late 2008 and early 2009. I myself own a Jan 2009 30SF sharing the MTE serial number that was problematic for a number of owners. Glock's initial response to calls and even guns shipped back for inspection was that the guns were "in spec" which was a very unsatisfactory answer to those experiencing difficulties. After several months of experimentation with homebrewed fixes and a rising chorus of complaints at Glock, they finally came out with a redesigned TB and started exchanging problematic guns. There were mixed results as to whether or not the modified TB actually cured the problem. Glock's initial denial of a problem, then very slow acceptance caused some longtime Glock supporters to abandon the brand. My gun has a severely gouged TB but since I never experienced FTRTB, I decided to keep it and let it wear-in. For those of us used to loose and flawless 9mms right out of the box, the tightness and interference of internal parts in a Glock was surprising and for many, unacceptable. Of course Glock never made a public pronouncement of what went wrong nor did they issue any recalls. Apparently, they quietly fixed the problem because the noise has all but disappeared on Glock Talk.

I recently bought a new G-30 because I did not want to have the problems others were having with the 30SF. I had not heard of any problems with the 30 and I hope there are none.

Any news on a Gen 4 Glock 30? Looking for intel on the .45 acp, not GAP.
