Its news to me. I just received the Jan. 2011 issue of GWLE and page 8 there is an article 'STREET PROVEN MAN STOPPERS' and there is the Gen4 G37. I figure it was all but dead, but it lives.

It is only dead on Glocktalk. In June, the Florida Highway patrol became the 5th State Police agency to adopt the G37. Five out of fifty using the same model Glock is pretty darn good. The five are now NY, PA, SC, GA and FL. I understand that the FBI may be looking at the G37 and G38 to replace their aging 1998 G22's and G23's.

This is good to hear, I prefer the 45gap to the 45acp.

I just didn't know the Gen4 G37 were out already, thats earlier than most models.

Do you prefer the GAP guns or the GAP round itself?

That is interesting. We'll see how that pans out. I would think the .357 Sig would be a better choice if they really wanted to get away from .40. I'd be surprised they would want to give up so much capacity with GAP.

I prefer both, I don't like the ACP round, nor the ACP frames that Glock makes.

If you cannot hit it in the first 3 rounds you should be runnig away from the threat.:whistling:

I too prefer tha GAP round as it takes a SP primer and it is impossible to double charge AND seat a bullet which is great for a progressive reloading press. However, I am sure that will not be a benefit for the Walmart ammo trawlers.:supergrin:

I don't care for Glock ACP guns myself, too thick. But that's not the ACP round's fault, it's Glock's. It's unfortunate they didn't just do a slimmer ACP instead of GAP (it CAN be done - there are plenty of examples out there).

The GAP round is another matter. I really don't see any advantage unless you're handloading. If you're NOT handloading the GAP is at a huge disadvantage.

I would think so too, but then again I assume the ,357Sig would do better shooting through cars and trucks than the .45GAP. I know Texas found the .357Sig did better than their .45ACP Sig 220s'.

FHP went to the 45GAP because the weapons were free, thats all.
They wanted a 45 and the SW MP failed repeatedly out of the box.
The 45GAP were a straight 1:1 swap as were the bullets 1:1.
The FHP Officers were allowed to buy their own ( another one, not the issued one) private Glocks at "wholesale" prices and thats why they are starting to appear on the selling boards.

We are talking about FBI/LE where there could likely be multiple threats and not at a self defense situation that usually will take no more than a few rounds. I will take 16 total rounds of .357 sig over 11 of .45gap or acp for a duty gun. Lets also remember the 15 vs 10 rd mags that you carry also. That being said I personally am stuck with 10 rd max mags here in NY, so I'll go with the bigger bullet diameter.

Theyd probably pull out the ARs instead of a pistol if they came to a situation like or have more than one officer on the scene.

Where do you get this from? Please provide the source. You really think Glock is gonna give away 5000+ pistols for free?? If Glock was going to do it for the GAP, why wouldnt they provide the same offer for one of Glocks other calibers?
What selling boards? I have certainly not seen any Gen4 G37s or any large numbers of G39s on Glock Talk to date.
