im wanting to pick up another gun. I have to switch my grip just a tad to reach the gen 3 mag release. Im wondering from the guys in my position if you can reach the gen 4 release without having to switch your grip.

Have you tried the Tangodown or Factory Glock extended releases?

They make operating the generation 3 catches a heck of alot easier.

Having said that, due to the shorter frame and the longer contact surface area on the generation 4 release, i have found the gen 4 guns to be exceedingly easy to operate.

I just read that the new release works on a pivot is that true and can you pivot the release from the rear of the button?

Erm...

No, it does not pivot. You DO need to press more towards the front of the mag catch (towards the muzzle) to authoritatively release the magazine.

The mag release is the biggest improvement on the Gen 4 guns. So much easier to use than the Gen 3 mag release and true to Glock it's a very simple and efficient design.
