Does anyone here know if a Gen 2 .40 barrel would work OK in a Gen 3 G32, or if not...why not?

Called Glock, and they gave a very vague/confusing 'not recommended' answer, but the explanation didn't really make any sense at all.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If it is a G23 barrel, then yes.

Sorry...yes, it is a 2nd hand Gen 2 G23 factory barrel (marked .40 'SW', which I think was only done during Gen 2) and a Gen 3 G32.

The guy I spoke to assured me that this was potentially unsafe and discouraged it, but the explanation didn't make any sense at all. Some of the explanation sounded along the lines of the reverse situation of an older G23 not being safe for .357 Sig, but I went out of my way to make it extra clear what I was talking about more than once and he maintained that it was a bad idea.

I am not seeing how how it could be problem. If you want to be on the safe side just fire a few shots and examine the brass to make sure everything looks good. I think you will find the Gen2 barrel will work fine.
