I am fairly new here but how do I tell which generation glock I have. 99.9% sure it's not a 4!
    Thanks

    If it's not G17, then it can't be a Gen 1.

    Not 100% true...

There were a very small number of Gen 1 Glock 19's produced. A lot of Glock collectors consider a Gen 1 19 to be the Holy Grail of the Glock collection (aside from the G18, but I like to be realistic).

Those were the prototype G19's that were tested in both Austria and the USA. According to a Glock executive, no Gen1 G19's were ever produced for sale.

Gen 4 has Gen4 on left side of slide, light rail, finger grooves, and rough texture. Gen 3 has light mount rail on bottom of frame, and finger grooves with texture. Gen 2 has no light rail, or fingers grooves with texture. Gen 1 has no light rail or finger grooves or texture on frame while other gens do. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Two or three weeks ago, I remember someone posting on one of the forums that they did pick up a Gen 1 G19 and posted pictures to prove it, so if they weren't intended for sale, some did make it to market.

    So what's your point?

We all know that G19's Gen1 are the holy grail of Glock's no matter what.

The new guy is just trying to find out which Gen he owns, just help him if you can and keep it simple.
Is really that hard to keep the subject of the thread?
