No one mentioned the Bass Pro a mile down the road from SMKW??? Worlds Largest Fireworks Store across the street?

Oh, and Dollywood is a must. It is a fantastic theme park.

I crisscrossed the Smokies during my traveling years, working in places like Knoxville, Greenville, Bristol and other places. Gatlinburg is tourist hell, in my opinion, but the rest of the park is beautiful. The one place I never had time to visit was Cade's Cove and I hear it's the best site of all.

Gatlinburg itself (the main strip) is a total tourist trap.

We went there for the mountains, and to get some quality time together in a cabin by ourselves, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday real-world life. Worked out perfectly!

Two or three hours were spent in tourist areas, but that includes dinner at the brewery. And how could I pass up a trip to Cooter's??? Not when I saw the General Lee through the window.
