This is just my perspective. I'm new to shooting and even newer to Glocks. I was at the gun shop today and asked to see both. They had several G43's and one G26 which was right beside one of the G43's. Looking at them side by side I didn't notice a whole lot of difference.

I was handed the G26 first and my first thought was that it felt a lot like my G19 minus the room for my pinky. Then I was handed the G43 and there was a noticeable difference in weight. I could definitely tell it was a smaller pistol. I also put the G43 in the pocket of my carhartt's and it felt fine. I previously owned a Shield and I never felt it was a good pocket option. However, the G43 (with a trigger guard holster) would rival my 442 revolver as a pocket gun.

Since I have a 19, I wouldn't consider the 26 if I was looking for a smaller Glock. I would definitely choose the G43. I like the interchangeability of the 26, but if I wanted more capacity, I would just carry the 19.

That being said, I haven't shot either. The clerk said that for CC, the 43 would be great but that it wasn't as much fun to shoot. The range has a G43 and G26 rental, so I'll probably try them both out at some point in the future.

Just carry the 19- save yourself and benefit from my experience.

Definitely rent and shoot both since that is an option for you. I love my G43, not bad at all to shoot. Even with 124+p, very controllable.

I have a G27 and a 19!I carry 90% of the time. I had a G43 for a bit got rid of it because of the capacity. Months later I kick myself for getting rid of the 43, the light weight and thin profile is for sure easier to carry. When necessary anyways. Options are good. I would still carry the 19 most of the time, sometimes a slimmer gun is just more convinient though.

I have several CC options in the safe. Summer time light clothing I pocket carry a LCP. Riding the bike I carry a G43 in a built in holster in my leather riding vest. I also have sticky holsters for my G43 and G26. The 26 see's very little holster time.

After several experiments with 17 19 26 43, I will say the 19 is the way to go. 43 and 26 are snappy little guns in my opinion.
But what do I know, still like the 19 for the all around uses.

I've both. Bought the 43 with the intention of retiring my active CC G26. After some range and carry time with both the 26 is still my EDC about 90% of the time. The 43 is for just certain occasions. Same length, same height. The 43 is slimmer but only 6+1 and the 26 is 10+1 and fills my hand better.

    Your experiences could vary.

I like the double stacks. I'm a huge fan of the G26. I also have a G19 and G17 and I like the mag compatibility.

The G26 in my opinion is very easy to carry. I have no interest in anything smaller. I also like that with a 17 round spare mag I have 28 rounds on hand.

I had a 19 for years that I carried. I switched to a 26 and was much happier. I bought a 43 to try it out. It has its place, but if I had to pick one, for me, it’d be the 26 without a doubt. Conceals well, especially in the butt, that’s where the 19 failed for me. I will say though the 43 has its place as it is pretty comfortable to carry. Shooting it, not as fun. Recently I took a class and we had range sessions where in a couple hours we shot 250 rounds. By the end of the first one, I was not looking forward to the next. Granted, I will probably never shoot that much through my 43 in any other setting. Even IDPA matches rarely break a 100 rounds over an afternoon.
All that being said, what works for me isn’t necessarily for you. I do say give the 26 it’s due.

I enjoy shooting my 43. I am accurate with either hand to 7 yards, with both hands to 15 yards.

The 26 feels so close to my 19 I have not felt like I needed a 26. That may change.

I have a 19 but for me personally, it was big for EDC. I have to be able to take my gun off, put my tool pouch on and stash my gun in my toolbox, sometimes discretely. It was easier to just grab a J-frame or my LCP.

So I bought the 43 and now carry that 90% of the time. With a BladeTech Klipt, it's an easy on/off rig. Unfortunately, now I think I want a 27!

I carried a J Frame S&W in my pocket for 40 years because there really wasn’t a better option (for me)... until I bought my G43. I will never part with mine.

I love the 43 at the range and in the hand, but I’d rather have something smaller for the pocket, and higher capacity inside the waistband.

For me, the 43 is in no-man’s-land.

I have one, but I have lots of things that I don’t really need.

It is easier for me to shoot a G26 (or any double stack Glock) better than my G43. It took me a few thousand rounds before I could say I shoot my G43 well enough to be a carry gun. It is small and tends to move around in my hand when shooting.

In warmer months, I find a single stack gun far easier to conceal and far lighter to carry all day long. All that means to me is more options. It took a while for me to get my G43 working well with a +1 magazine extension, but it does now.

In the end, I have found the best compromise for me is actually a Kimber M9. I can carry it like I do a G42 IWB (which is even smaller than a G43). I shoot it as well as any of my full sized guns, at least out to maybe 15yds. Again, the only downside over say a G26 is it too is 7+1.

When a SIG P365 comes in locally, I will pick it up and see if it truly bests all of the above, as 10+1 in a package smaller than a G43 is very attractive to me.
