I have a G36 that I removed the standard slide lock and installed the stock one off my G19,It is about a 1/16th wider on each side and looked identical when side by side with the factory 36 slide lock except for the slight width difference,my local shop said it would not work and could cause problems since the 36 is a "different" beast .seems to work but am I missing something....

You are well along in your advanced line of thinking! Good job.

The standard slide lock lever for all other Glock pistols works as an "extended" version for the G36 pistol. If you want an extended version for any other Glock pistol try one from LWD http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Search.aspx?TERM=lwd-esll
