I recently purchased both the G30SF and a G36. I have read the old discussions and range reports about the hybrid. Since I had both guns, I figured I would give it a try.

To my disapointment, my G36 slide will not function on my G30SF frame. Any ideas why? Did people really just swab slide assemblys before?

well I don't think its a weight issue. When I put the 36 slide on the 30SF frame, it will not cycle. Others had posted on herfe that this should work.

Ummm..... I think that was a joke thread.... The 36 is much thinner than the 30....

I put my Dad's G36 slide on my G30SF frame and it functioned just fine. Be aware that the thick slide of the G30 is heavier than the G36 slide, which means that thick slide is going to soak up that recoil.
While I'm all for slimming down the G30, I don't want to give up capacity or the soft recoil. My Dad's G36 is snappy compared to my G30 and I get a lot of pressure back into the web of my hand whereas with my G30 the energy is distributed evenly throughout the entire grip resulting in reduced felt recoil.

G30 is thick, but it's thick for a reason.

I don't recall if I have a 30SF, but my 30/36 works either which way, and my G29 upper/G36 lower also worked (I posted pics of that here).

    NYC Drew,

Did you shoot your G29 slide on your G36 frame? What mags did you use for this if you did?

I believe that the G30 is built to the same width as the G21 because it was built to the same width as the G20 in order to take the high pressure of the 10mm and allow for commonality of parts.

The G36 proves that the Glock can handle running 45ACP through the thinner-slides, so the thick slides on the G21 and G30 are basically overkill.

If that makes any sense. :dunno:

To answer your question(s), without taking this thread too far off course, yes, and I used G36 mags

Over @ Warrior Talk, there is alot of info form those who have done this along while back. And belive it to be the ultimate Glock. I have heard rumors that Glock was going to do something like it. Just rumors mind you. However it should work fine.

When I took the glock armorers class back in october one of the instuctors had this setup. That is what he carried. The instructor was doneburgh. He wanted people how would be interested in this gun to call glock and tell them they would like to see them do this setup.

More than that, i'd love to see them make a 36 with full grip and flush mags. I hate the mag being part of the grip. But I'm probably gonna have to buy a 29 just to make this franken carry monster.

well this is definately concerning... For some reason when I put my 36 slide on my 30sf, it gets hung up and wont cycle.

Just keep in the back of your mind that this is not an official Glock gun. Try changing out the trigger assembly from the G36 to the combo you are trying to use (G36 trigger assy in G30 lower).

Buy a used G30, and a used G36. Swap out the parts, then sell the remnants.
