I've read some great post of various .150"-.155" width competition rear sights matched with .115" front fiber optic sights, but what front width is recommended for a .180" rear window?

This would be for a G35 used mainly for target shooting from 10-40yds, but I may decide to get into some action shooting in the future. Sights are Ameriglo, solid rear, fiber-optic front, due to the favorable cost/benefit, aka bang for the buck. Their only front FO option widths are .115" and .130". I also plan on using a 9mm conversion barrel, probably more often than not.

Also, I'd appreciate if someone could tell me whether the Ameriglo fiber optic fronts project into the G35 slide lightening cut. I saw no mention of this on their website.

Thanks in advance

I have a .130" green AmeriGlo FO front in combination with a .180" black AmeriGlo rear sight on several longer slide Glocks. I just looked at the 17L (that I'm getting ready to clean) and the front sight comes to the edge of the cutout - no overhang. I don't recall any overhang on the 35 either.

I couldn't believe no one here used that combo!

I'd love to see a pic of that front sight on a G35, if you happen to have one. I had just about written it off after receiving a reply from an Ameriglo rep stating the sight did project into the cutout.

I very much appreciate the reply!

I have no picture posting foo. I'm going to look at the 35 but whatever Rick at AmeriGlo tells you will be accurate in my experience.

The .115" front would probably work OK with the stock adjustable sight as mine is .145". They once had a red FO that was .090". I replaced the red with a greenish yellow FO rod and used it until there were wider choices.
