I took both my 1997 G27 and 2012 G23, both 3rd gens, to the range today for their first joint session. For the longest, I've always shot the 27 with a Pierce grip extension. Maybe forever. With the Pierce grip extension, the overal size was just to close between the 2, so I ran a flat floor plate on the 27. The 27 also has Glock's latest recoil spring. I was shooting Blazer 180's at a large bullseye at 15'. Both guns performed flawlessly. To my surprise, recoil seemed almost identical, even with the 2 finger, 2 handed hold on the 27. What's more amazing is the 27 groups were just a tad tighter than the 23 and more centered on the bullseye. Uh oh, don't tell this to the wifey. I thought the new 23 would be substantially better than the 27, but I think they are about the same. 13 rounds is better than 9 and I do think I could handle the longer grip of the 23 better under stress, but I had no idea they would shoot so close to the same. Both have Glock Night Sights.
