I took both my 1997 G27 and 2012 G23, both 3rd gens, to the range today for their first joint session. For the longest, I've always shot the 27 with a Pierce grip extension. Maybe forever. With the Pierce grip extension, the overal size was just to close between the 2, so I ran a flat floor plate on the 27. The 27 also has Glock's latest recoil spring.

I was shooting Blazer 180's at a large bullseye at 15'. Both guns performed flawlessly. To my surprise, recoil seemed almost identical, even with the 2 finger, 2 handed hold on the 27. What's more amazing is the 27 groups were just a tad tighter than the 23 and more centered on the bullseye.

Uh oh, don't tell this to the wifey. I thought the new 23 would be substantially better than the 27, but I think they are about the same. 13 rounds is better than 9 and I do think I could handle the longer grip of the 23 better under stress, but I had no idea they would shoot so close to the same. Both have Glock Night Sights.

I have a Gen 3 23 and 27 as well. I have noticed that I have better groupings with the 27 also. I use the 27 for CC and the 23 for home defense.

I also seem to shoot my 27 a little better than my 23.

FWIIW, I think it might have something to do with the pinky not applying pressure on the grip causing the pistol to move while shooting.

Ditto. I have the 23 for a "house-gun" and a well worn 27 for CC and I too get tighter groupings with the littler gun. I've noticed this for some time now but have never been able to explain it. Thought about trading/selling my 23 for a 22 or getting another 27 (maybe a Gen4) just for grins.

It seems we hear a lot of that, where people shoot the 27 better than the 23. The 27 is very consistant and predictable. Less slide mass I think helps bring you right back on target.

its the pinky. without the pinky on the grip you will milk the grip less. try shooting the 23 and don't touch the grip with your pinky finger.

I carry a G27 and my bedside gun is a G23. I too shoot the G27 better. I have GAP floor plates for the G27 and I feel I have a better grip with the 27.

The 27 I have has mag extensions on it. I may try shooting the 23 without the pinky applying pressure.
