My son called and said he had several FTF hiccups with his 27.

It's fairly new 5-600 rds. Remington ammo (all I know). Had a couple with an old box as well as with a new box.

Firing pin marked the primer but didn't fire. He was able to extract bullet by moving the frame backwards.

He thinks its the firing pin, I'm thinking the ammo?

He's going to bring it over for me to look at before he sends it in to glock.

I'm thinking of trying another brand of ammo.

What else should I look for besides a through cleaning? (Can't be that dirty? ) it doesn't happen everytime which makes me think ammo.

Could be just the firing pin spring. Cheap and easy fix if it is.

Clean out and lightly lube striker channel. Try different ammo.

Also check to see if the striker is assembled properly.

Was it purchased used?

Make sure the Chanel liner is not damaged.

My first gen 4 i had the same because the rsa was not properly seated. I also had gunk in the FP channel from over lubing. 1200 flawless rounds since I grew a brain.

Yes check excess oil on fp first.
