I bought the S&W Shield last week. Have shot 250 rounds through it, love its ergonomics a lot and it shoots well. I'm contemplating trading/selling my beloved G26 4th Gen for another Shield or just selling it outright. Am I a cad or a bad person for dumping my previous love?:whistling: I still have my G19 and now my G17 (all 4th Gen) and I just think it is redundant to now have the G26.

And IF Glock had made a single stack 9mm I would most likely not have gone to the dark side and purchased a S&W Semi-Auto!!!!!!:crying:

Oh, the Shield also fits VERY well in my Desantis 106 E1 holster, where my G26 could sometimes be found before.

Eh, sell the 19 if your going to sell anything. G26 is just so flexible. Think of it like this, if you choose to carry it over your shield you can carry 17 round backups and still have a highly concealable package that weighs the same as the shield. I almost sold my Gen4 G26 to get a shield but I'm glad I didn't. I'll get one someday and I might carry it over the 26 more often but the G26 is the best carry gun IMO. If anything, don't sell it for another shield, get a bigger M&P!

For pocket carry I prefer one of my Smith J-Frames,
or Kahr MK40, to my Glock G27.
The Glock, for me, is a belt gun.

But when I'm dressed where I can belt carry?

Nice, glad to hear you like the Shield. I'm hoping to get one soon to add to the rotation. Currently use a PM9 and 2 J-frames.

I find the G26 rides nicely in a pocket in a Mikes #4

IF the gun works perfectly, never ever sell it.

I continue to believe that the G26 is about Glock's best. I am very impressed with the Shield and have one ordered. I could even see eventually getting a second Shield however I would be reluctant to replace a G26 with a Shield at this point. After Smith and Wesson has sold a couple hundred thousand of them and they have been out there for a year or two, maybe then. As much as I like the Shield at this point I think the G26 wins any long term reliability contest or any high round count contest. I do however think if the Shield ends up as reliable as a G26 it could easily eat into that market.

To each his own, if you like the Shield better more power to you. I like it but Im not giving up the G26. The Shield has a nicer trigger than the regular M&P's. Im interested in seeing what an APEX kit will do to it.

One of my internet friends has a Shield 9mm with the APEX kit installed.
    She says it's outstanding.

    I can't say I'm not interested.
But my G27 isn't going to be replaced by anything...

    More guns? No Problemo

I bought the Shield. I like it but it will not replace my G26 Gen 4. I still shoot my Glock better and my IWB holster makes it disappear. There are some guns you do not sell. The 26 is one of them!

Id keep the G26 and save for another Shield. The M&P is nice though but I always regret selling a gun to fund another.

    I'd keep the G26...you can't carry 10+1 and 17-round backup magazines for that single-stack S&W.

My thoughts exactly. My G26 is the last gun I would sell.

I just consider the Shield another tool in the toolbox, and am not getting rid of anything for it, especially not a Glock subcompact.

    OP:

I thought glock was the dark side. I think you went into the light! lol.

Meanwhile I bought a M&P9 FS and it's more accurate than any of my glocks. Soon I'll be getting a M&P9c and M&P45c. Then perhaps a M&P 45 FS. Sorry Glock.. bwahhaha

It's just a gun, not your girlfriend. Carry what works best for you and don't worry about what company name in on the side. As to me, unless I hate the gun, I don't sell any of them. They simply go in the safe.

I'd keep the G26. You never know when you will tire of the shield.
